Back in 70's use to run radio shack top of line RG8/U never had swr probs was just wondering. Now I use 9' jumpers think maybe too long should have done 3' but that's here or there now... Thought of cutting in half and making 4.5' jumpers but unsure if...
Ok, I thought mixing was not good, also some say that you only need enough to hook one piece of another aka radio to amp to tuner to meter to antenna? Some say 3' some 6' some 9' in increments of 3'? What's real vs myth.
If you do the math theirs no general solution each band is its own...

Me I'd do as I stated 10ga solid copper wire and maybe use a vacuum capacitor @10-100pf give or take its suppose to have a capacitance of @34pf or 44pf and do a motorized version.
One or two things as stated above by Atlasta or replace it with another fiberglass tube, or thick wall pvc.
If I was I would redo it all and fit it with a solid piece of 10ga copper wire for fun. And all 3 sections.
Ok understood, I was wondering seeing Ameritron advertises @65% efficiency but some are saying heathkit SB-220 and SB-221 are more efficient with right mods and can produce @2kw or more depending on drive and drive can be run up to 200 watts. That's kinda insane or am I wrong?
