Today was a good day to talk with Ireland and England with little to no power.. Took 30 watts and worked it like a charm and didn't have to put the fire in the wire ... Band is opening up a little, had the west coast of Cali hitting me hard yesterday... Just come on over to 27.400 lsb and say hello
Im going to have to give this Gain master some flowers...talked to a friend of mine on 27.400 lsb where we hang out mostly, he is about 85 miles from me usually I have a hard time hearing him before now I can pull him out and with me tossing 30 watts his way he said he has a fantastic copy on...
Yeah I have a bunch of antennas I can do a toe to toe with...I have done a lot of signal reports with my locals around here, but I have not done a toe to toe with any certain one...I will do one with the new SPT 500 next week since I have one coming in...I will also do one with a I10k as well...
Well I have been talking on the gain master today-- while conditions are very poor I did happen to talk with many locals with decent reports and shot a little dx this evening I heard california and oregon coming in there for a short time! Im not overly impressed with this antenna other then the...
I wanted to give a update on the gain master antenna! I got it put up yesterday after work and it has a perfect 1.1 swr from 26.300 to 29.000 and then it starts to climb a little after that....so far I am happy but then again I really have not had many dx contacts since condition isnt the best...
I have it down and will go measure it !! Yeah I adjusted the top element back 3/4 a inch...I wonder if your problem with your antenna is the 4th element not being retracted back enough and still have or had a bind on the coax....very possible!!
UPDATE JUST A SECOND AGO!!! Here is the TOTAL...
I put it together and here is my lengths im getting! This is with the 2nd and 3rd measured at 70 3/4 each and the 4th being stretched out and me pushing it back in 3/4 a inch for slack inside antenna.
From end to the tip measured out at 287 inchs
From where the coax goes to the tip is 273 inchs...
Ok well I wasnt far off so thats good, 70 1/2 or 70 3/4..either way it should be fine..so im going to set both at exactly 70 3/4 inch
Crazy thing is when I put 1800 mm into a converter it tells me it is 70.866 inchs....arg
Im assuming that the 2nd and 3rd section is about 70 1/2 inchs each since it tells me its about 1800MM per section...I am horrible with MM measurements , please correct me if im wrong! :headbang
"THANK YOU" bob for the advise...I will make sure that it is perfectly put together at the specs given and will def not over do it on the clamps, would hate to end up using it for a fishing rod
Little something got left at my front door yesterday afternoon, will have it up by the weekend for testing and hope it meets my expectations ! My first impression of the antenna so far for a fiberglass antenna is that it is made very well.. the one thing that I didnt like is the instructions...
That's ok Marconi...I hate to hear that about the Gain Master..i hope it is something minor going on with it and you can get it back to normal!! Please keep us informed (as I know you will)
I think the SP500 is also a GREAT choice.. actually probably would have been a close 2nd to me buying the Gain Master.. I will probably enfd up buying it also and testing it out as well late on, im also loving the colossal 5k antenna, it is very nice!!
