    Looking for Help (Bias Adjustment)

I gonna be hard pressed to give you an accurate answer because, there are many variables that are unknown. First and foremost, the idea on placing the bias outboard on that type on amp was lame-brained; those are tubes whos' class of operation is fixed by the amount of Screen volts and the...

    4x 4cx250b Glen amp

I built a 6-tube 4CX-250 box once and, it took 100 watts to drive. It was Cathode-driven and each tube had a separate adjustable bias, a switchable meter was used to make sure that the tubes were balanced in idle. 300 Volts on the screen were controlled by three OC1 regulator tubes in...

    plate choke and blocking cap

Crusher, are you a member of the Yahoo Group, "Ham Amplifiers" or, the Amps Reflector, you can pickup some info there. Xc for .01Uf @ 27 Mhz is is like 1 ohm, IMO for single band operation the inductance value of of the plate choke is in critical, just make sure to pile enough turns on there...

    PALOMAR TX-5200 QUESTION

Tony, here is the answer to OUR question about why our Palomar 5200s occasionally hang up (Thaks Bob). Maybe if we add negative feedback (my amp does not have it in there from the factory) it might affect that "un-keying" issue. .

2 Pill Low Dead Key Makes Amp Hang Up

Does it matter which direction the feedback pack is installed; can either the resistor or the capacitor be mounted at the Collector side or, do it have to be a definite direction. What would happen if you mixed them up? What are optimum values, I've seen as high as .1uf's used and as low...

    Need info on Footwarmer Amplifier

I really don't remember which tubes it had in it, check you voltage on pins 1 and 11. The AC comes in through the switch and goes to the printed circuit board where the tube sockets are located, if the voltage for the tubes have been changed, it will have to be in that path. .

    Apologies.....

<apology>To those of you who probably thought I had my head stuck up my butt, you may have been correct. Just recently, I reached a milestone on an amplifier project that I started 5 years ago. It started out as a single tube and, I built an amplifier around it from scrap parts and, it worked...

    Need info on Footwarmer Amplifier

Did anyone notice that the amplifier does not have any TRANSFORMER? I worked on one of those things, It uses a voltage quadrupler to step up the line voltage to provide B+ for the tubes; if it ever fails to light the tubes but does "Turn on", look for a burnt trace on the circuit board...

    Grid Current?

Sorry it took so long to get back....I have been fighting the "Slings and Arrows of outrageous fortunes". Paws, just out of curiousity what did you drive your amp with? I know that all is needed is about 100 watts pep per tube. But I ain't worried about max at this point. I am driving it...
