Well I used my contact cleaner and lube from radio shack. No more wind noise when keying the road devil. All nice and clear again. Thanks for the suggestion guys. Must have been a blonde moment for me. I usually think of that kinda stuff.

I have a chrome top white face Palomar 300a. It is missing the transformer. I've read that there are two different transformers. Supposedly they look identical but are different. Does anyone know how to distinguish which one I'd need? Even better yet. Any idea where I might find a transformer?

M42duster I have the old 250 with 2-1446's or whatever they are. I get 200 watts swing with my diamond sx-100 meter. That's running it with my CRE. Max output I get is about 200 regardless of input. With about 2 watts carrier in I get the most swing. So that's how I run it on am. Gets great...

Or you can change the little s/rf meter to be swy instead when keyed.

My CRE 8900 can be set to display rx frequency then tx frequency when keyed up. Or swr or battery voltage when keyed.

Mine came from bells. I haven't seen my tuneup report yet, but on my brand new diamond sx-100 it doesn't do near those numbers. On ssb or am. I have know idea how accurate my meter is, but I've heard great things about the diamond.
