Well I added a 5 foot mast and raised the antenna up, the swr's actually went up a few tenths. I took the extra 5 foot mast off after that. I put the current choke I have right at the antenna and it really made no difference. I also tried to insulate the antenna from the fence post but it must...
I tuned it for 28.4000 being the center frequency. Not sure I can get it off the fence, I am using one of the fence post to clamp the mast to. I have limited mounting options and had my Shakespear big stick in the same location. Some one suggested isolating the antenna from the mast. Maybe I...
Not sure if this is a problem with a component or just the way it is but on strong receive signals like channel 19 am or a ssb frequency with a birdie or strong signal showing s7 on the rf meter if you switch to mod, swr etc the meter still shows the s7 reading. If you have it set for modulation...
The problem with adding radials is all around the antenna area is concrete. I had to drill thru it to add a ground rod. Are you sayinging isolate the antenna from the mast may help? My ac outlets are polarized but will check if the nuetral is reversed. This is a frustrating problem for sure.
Well the problem is back. I think I have rf ground issues and not sure what to try. My home has 2 prong outlets and no ground lug. I have 2 power supplies, one for the radio and 1 for a amp. The swr's seem to change daily and go higher with more power. I have the current choke that seem to fix...
I got my DX Engineering feed line current choke and installed it and it made a big difference. The swr's went down a few tenths and now it does not matter what power I use it is pretty much the same 1.5 or less. The Ringo is not very broad banded and in the 11 meter band I could not get the...
I have checked it also with my amp on and maybe 100 watt dead key and it gets close to a 2.0 on the meter. I guess that is still ok? Doc have you had a chance to look at my 2600 I sent you last week. Had the smoking cpu, LOL.
Yes I recalibrate the meter before each check and I use am mode to do the test. Someone once told me to use the least amount of power to get a full scale reading for meter calibration then do your swr check. He also said trying to check swr's with an external amp turned on was no good either...
I may have 10 foot of slack. I need to see if the current choke works before I try the air wound trick. Some one said one time the antenna should be isolated from the mast but tha does not sound right to me.
I think my swr meter is a workman, not sure of the model but it is a mid-range to cheapo cb style. I also have a radio shack that shows about the same thing. I have a feedline current choke from dx engineering on the way to see if it helps out. It is supposed to help keep the rf in the coax and...
Could structures and metal gutters etc in close proximity of a vertical 10 meter antenna cause some power being reflected? I noticed if I increase my power from about 4 watts to 12 my swr's increase a small amount, from 1.5 to 1.7. My antenna does have some metal gutters and roof line just under...
What are those tuning slugs, coils that say do not adjust on 2510. Lincoln, Emperor radios? The guy that aligned one of my radios pulled those stickers off and said he had to tune those for transmit alignment. Wonder what they did and why they say not to adjust and why he did.
No transmit, no receive, no sound unless you go to fm then static. The display is kind of dim. I found the 8 volt regulator on the cpu board had about 2 volts output but I pulled it out and it seems ok. Hooked a 9 volt battery to it and it put out about 7.9 volts. Saw a faint wisp of smoke close...
It had already been clipped so I re-soldered it back. That just works for am modulation doesn't it? I hate finding clipped things like that. I was pissed when I found the alc clipped in my 2510. I sent it for alignment and it came back modified. I did not ask for that and put it back. I also see...
One of the mods I see listed for the Emperor is to cut r247 for more modulation. Is this a good mod to do or not? I see my radio has this resistor already cut loose.
I connected the alc back up and turned down the ssb power to about 25 to 30 watts pep. wish I had a scope to look at the signal but it has to be cleaner with the alc in the circuit than with out.
