I'll bring my special recipe garlic bread and I'll try to talk the Mrs into making some sheet cookies like she made last year.
My avatar pic was taken right after my first batch of garlic bread :tt2:
OK, change in plans with the Westy. I had a spare 12-volt 255Ah AGM battery stashed away under my work bench, that was destined for my trailer. It just so happened that there was just enough room for it under the passenger side of the rear bench seat ... so, that's where it is now, along with...
Took delivery of a Jetstream JT7505B 2M/440 (black) mobile antenna that matches the Lil Tarheel. The Jetstream looks exactly like and has the exact same specs as my Diamond SG7500A, but the Jetstream was only half the price! I'd bet they're both made at the same factory :sneaky2:
All the...
Had to move the panels further out to accommodate the antenna bracket, so I removed them and made up the parallel wiring harness to size.
Reinstalled the panels in their new position ... and the antenna bracket.
Next, gotta do all the cable runs (and eventually, a bath) :laugh...
I hope so, Anthony ... will give it the smoke test soon :confused1:
I checked out the empty auxiliary battery tray and battery transfer module under the rear seat today (Saturday). Tidied up the electrical connections, tested the operation, then made a hold-down bracket and installed the...
Made up an antenna bracket for the 'Westy' today ... will have to see if it works out, both electrically and physically
Little Tarheel-II HF screwdriver, mounted 17" away from a Diamond SG-7500 (Super Gainer) dual-bander on a piece of Unistrut - plan to mount it to the front...
Fabricated a rack for my 'Westy' camper
Made some brackets ...
... and installed the cross rails (shallow aluminum Unistrut)
... and installed a couple 100-watt solar panels
I'll be installing a 20 Amp charge controller, an Odyssey sealed battery and a 1500-watt power inverter...
There IS a VHF input, Scott, but you have to obtain it from the repeater 'owners', K9KAO or N6DTO.
It's a secondary freq mainly for use when the UHF input is shut off due to malicious interference situations.
I find the UHF input works better for me, so I seldom use the VHF anyway.
Are those power output specs validated, or just Chinese hype? ... like certain brands of GMRS HTs claiming 35 mile range ?
Midland used to state their 27mHz CB HTs were 7w ... but that was input power, output was still the 'legal' 4w out.
No, I didn't send any emails. Daryl told me where to get the info today ... I just have to dig through some old emails to find the one with the URL.
It's all good :)
