Hey, that was GREAT! Tnx so much. Can you take a request? It's the next logical progression from the 1/2L dipole. It's called the Extended Double Zepp. (EDZ) Envision a dipole with each leg 0.64L long. (Familiar number?) For 11-meters, that's a dipole approx. 44 ft. in overall length. A simple...
Update: Tom sent me another e-mail re. the type of aluminum alloy used. It is indeed 6063-T832. Fine by me - smile.
Btw, for tvrc18, what type or brand of line isolator are you using?

Got an e-mail from Tom at Hy-Gain last night. 6061 it is! That makes it a very good buy at approx. $150. ($140 at some shops!)

Same here, I'd like to adjust the radiator/radial lengths for 28.400 MHz. Also of note is the nice job they did of deburring all the edges. I half expected to have to do this myself given MFJ's rep but I was mistaken... Thanks MFJ!

Same here... At least for the one I received directly from Hy-Gain. I haven't opened the one from DX-Engineering yet. I'll check when I get home.

Definitely hoping for 6063-T832. Stronger than the T-5 with excellent anti-corrosive properties and much more cost-effective than the 6061 T-6. I've had a total of three V-58's &/or V-5000's (Including the original Wilson version.) and they will take a permanent bend in high winds.

Hey guys, ( & ladies?)
Does anybody know what alloy the new Hy-Gain Super Penetrator 500 is made of; 6063-T5, 6063-T832, or 6061-T6? All three are technically "aircraft grade" but the techno-nerd in me needs to know.
Although in a different profession now, I was an aircraft...
Hi agn, Es:
This is also my first (& 2nd - hihi!) Penetrator. I have handled and seen them back in the late 70's/early 80's while helping with installs and working in a CB shop here in Long Island, NY. It really does appear to be just like the last model Hy-Gain released, including going from...
Thanks, I'd always wanted one in the early 80's to go along with a nice President Madison and Turner +2 desk mic. Well none of that materialized but my 10 yr. old lad just earned his Tech ticket. So he'll be on 10-meters. I'll be tuning it for 28.400 MHz center freq.
BTW, my old setup was a...
Received mine about a week ago. Very pleased at the quality and construction. Also of note is the hardware, all stainless. (Sans the U-bolts)
Does anybody know what type of Aluminum alloy is used, i.e. 6063-T5, 6063-T832, 6061-T6, etc.?
