Hopper states on its Facebook that it is currently taking orders for Fatboy amps. Carl former X-force builder has a current website. They are both in business right now.
There are still plenty of options. Carl Built X-force is back in business. Dave Made clones are back in business. Hopper and Fatboy are still building. Texas Star.

They seem to be mass producing a lot of metal cases- more than enough to supply the CB users. I wonder if all of those are for comp amps, or are there other uses for those cases outside of the CB world??

No amp builder can last a year if their amps don't work. The word gets around. Even if you are a good builder you will take crap on every forum from Know It Alls. I can't think of a single amp builder who has avoided criticism. Know It Alls are by definition Unpleasable. That is why my marriage...
