KL 503 seems to work fine but!!!

Let me see if I can remember exactly what happened today. I know I will catch some flack but I’m driving it with a Q5N2. The weird thing that is happening is when I have the amp switched to SSB no TX indicator light comes on. And I can’t hear any relays. But, great audio reports with some long...

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

Just an update they are interchangeable. Using the Q5 mic chord on the Q6 mic. And vice versa. We will see if i still have the issue with my Q5 n2.. or if I just moved the problem to the Q6. Thanks for your help.

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

I hate it when that happens!!! Since I disassembled and reassembled the mic last night I haven’t experienced the issue today at all. But we will see. What in the world is a channel encoder optical disk?

    Anytone 6666 Question

No Balun the legs are still a hair long for the frequencies I use. 1.5 up around 27.495 and flat at 26.805. Tuner I have makes me lazy at the moment even though it will only take a minute to shorten the legs. I started with it horizontal knowing I set it long but as a lowered it into a V the...

    Anytone 6666 Question

I put up an inverted V speaker wire dipole 2 days ago at 1/2 wave high. All reports except one when switching from and back to my Sirio 2016 are that my signal and audio were identical. I saw it for myself when a contact in Ontario did a live stream recording our almost 30min QSO. I was on my...

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

Just had a thought. I’m wondering if I could just unplug the cord from the board on each of the mics and switch them? I could either switch the chord or the board or both. They appear identical.

That is an option. I could also just take them loose I suppose. I doubt or don’t know if they make an adapter that goes from the Q6 mic to the Q5, but if they did, I could use that to either confirm or eliminate the Mike as the problem. I have a Q6 Mic. I just thinking out loud.

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

Interesting, I had it all apart before I read your reply. Looked at the board closely. All the solder connections look good. Traces look good and I noticed two resistors to the left of the PTT switch as I was following in the traces from the channel switches. I assume they are there for...

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

I’ve had my Q5 N2 since Christmas no problems whatsoever. Until a few days ago, it started switching channels on me while talking. I thought at first maybe I was just being clumsy and hitting the channel buttons. But I’ve been watching close and it happens when I key the microphone. There’s...

Just ordered the Sirio 2016. Good move or not?

That was interesting. I had 100’ of coax on my antenna and planned to cut it down to 50’. Which I did. Got it all soldered up, checked it with my meter, dead short.. other end still connected to antenna. Thought I messed up. Redid it and same thing. Learn something new every day. I knew at that...

Just ordered the Sirio 2016. Good move or not?

I don’t get how they manage to do that but many of the reviews I read mentioned the ease of tuning and how wide banded they are. I’ve never had an antenna do that. Swr is dead flat anywhere I’ll be hanging out. Amazing to me really. Top it all off performance @ just 22’ in the air seems pretty...

Just ordered the Sirio 2016. Good move or not?

Only been 2 days and to say I’m happy with this tenna would be an understatement. And the stock Q5 I’m talking on. Got to hear myself today when talking on FM. Operator in NY state made a short video of part of our conversation he shared on social media.

I hear you, that’s all it takes sometimes. One bad experience can completely poison the well.

Just ordered the Sirio 2016. Good move or not?

Always nice when a plan comes together. My first contact across the pond to the UK this morning. I think. I’m going to be happy with this antenna. It’s only 22 feet to the base.

Just ordered the Sirio 2016. Good move or not?

Finally it’s up in the air. Match is great. Only checked from 26805 to 27405. Dead 1 to 1 throughout. It’s dark cold and wet and DX is done for the day. Was hoping to hear some distant locals but a quick scan came up with nothing so far. Thanks to everyone for the help and moral support.

Just ordered the Sirio 2016. Good move or not?

HotRod When I was referring to the main whip I meant the entire assembled stinger part of the antenna. The largest diameter connection with the clamp about 3 or 4 feet from the bottom of the antenna. Just needed to verify that you insert that section till it stops and clamp it down. Wanted to...
