cannon. i dont solder a connector every time. i cut, skin the coax. stick the center in the so connector and hold the ground to the threads. reguardless if im toutching the ground i get the same reading with a connector on.

the fan in the 4300-300 already works extreamly well

when you turn down the dk on a 4300-300 the output cuts back also. the one we have does 150 rms and 300 peak from a 10 w dk, which would make it perfect drive for a 6 pill. 8 pill would smile all day long 50 w dk gives about 200 rms and 400 peak. talks at 350 easy. aaaa 395 saved :)

mine works well on the base. you can tune the recieve by following the pot adjustment order from cb tricks, just by watching the needle, then cut back L2 and L3 1/3 turn to cut back white noise and you will be extreamly happy.

btw for clarity, i did not adjust swr by tripping the coax. the stinger length was set by the mfj and fine tuned with the bird meter. then coax is adjusted in length to read 50 ohms where i wanted it to. stinger length rechecked with the bird meter. maybe a slight adjustment ( 3/16" max )...

with further playing on the coax page ( link ) the basic std "18ft" is only correct with a .66 velocity factor. those of us that run coax with a .85 velocity factor require a different length. so coax length can matter
