These adapters are available everywhere. I purchased some Kenwood branded 8 to 4 adapters from my local ham store, but these are ubiquitous everywhere. Check your local CB shop.
I could not agree more! I love mine. I too, have tried many, many exports and 10M radios, and find the Optima perfect for my needs. I find it a perfect "dual-use" radio for both 10 and 11M. It is superb on 10, and more than adequate on 11.
I am late to this, but I have the answer. My Trane XV-95 furnace uses an ECM motor driven by a PWM driver. Makes trash all over HF. I along with several others devised a remedy for this RFI, which I have attached here. It's all in the attached PDF.
While all antennas can be tuned for a low SWR with a clean and non-spurious radio, the spurious radio will be unstable and very sensitive to reactances in the antenna. Thus, different antennas (all showing low SWR) will react differently with the spurious radio. If the radio is wonky and...
From your description, it sounds like something in the TX RF chain is going spurious. Those spurs cause anomalous SWR readings and seem to be producing trash all over the HF bands. Either need the TX RF chain retuned or some component is failing. How is it on a dummy load?
That's interesting. My buddy has an Emperior 5010 with the exact same problem. I plan on replacing the channel encoder with one from an HR2600 parts unit (if it fits). I'll let you know. Might be the solution for you.
Your choice of a reliable linear will depend on how deep your pockets are. Cheap but good are the Ameritron.
You will need this to key any amateur linear.

CON 2 allows full ham functionality when in the ham mode, including repeater offsets, splits, and CTCSS tone.
Since this radio is actually a "10M" radio, it retains some of the inexpert thinking of it's designers. 88.5 used to be the standard tone for 10M repeaters about 10 years ago...
Ah, yes!!! You must reset the µP before it will accept the new program! Very important, or the radio will stay on the old program!
And yes, "Stealth Mode". The OF-S45HP has the same µP. Though we don't have the same government worries up here, I also run mine in stealth mode, only because...
I like them small so they will fit in my car. I hope that's a VFO knob on there! And I hope it has both continuous tuning and at least 1 kHz increments (100Hz or 10Hz would be better.) And I would love to know the frequency coverage too.
We will just have to wait, I suppose.
Stock, unmodified coverage is only 28.765 - 29.205 MHz. Basic, modified coverage is 25.615 - 28.305 MHz. To cover the full 10M band, you need top do the Extended 10-Meter Frequency Conversion, which requires a crystal swap.
It will NOT do actual splits.
The OmegaForce S454HP's are notorious for certain problems. There are some batches that suffer from very poor factory quality control, which shows up as poor solder joints and some improper wiring of the RFX75 module. I own an 'S45HP, and am familiar with most of the issues. The first...
