Hey shade tree thanks for that information, I was always wondering about those sirios. Skip is rolling so well tonight in Southern Illinois I think I can talk on a wet noodle and get out!
If anyone is still reading this thread, so I don't have to make a new one.
I hated this Y quad and got rid of it.
I have an Antron 99 about 50 feet on my tower that I discussed previously, that I WAS going to add my beam to before I scrapped the project. The A99 has been there about a year and...
I’m giving up on this antenna.
After only a year and a half all the hardware is completely rusted so bad that it has to be cut off with a grinder, the aluminum poles are somehow bent to shit, the copper braided wire is broken, and I can’t get the reflective dimensions to work out on it despite...
I saw that one yesterday.
Since posting this I’ve looked up the specifications on my antenna and even as big as it is it only has 3.9 Square feet of wind load. I’m thinking I might be able to get away with a light duty set up such as this...
Bought this antenna 2 years ago. Within the first week, the cheesy copper reflector came off. Okay, I pulled it down and fixed it. (Takes 4 men to lower and raise my tower).
Then a week later the rotator stripped and the cheesy cheap copper wire broke again. I left it dangle for a year and a...
Holy cow, the audio chip is one of the things I suspected was wrong. I have actually acquired a Navajo radio with the same exact issue. I will replace the audio chips and see what I get!
Well this is all going up today. I have a 20 foot piece of tower and then I have 220 foot pieces of pipe to give me a total of 60 feet, however I think that I’m probably going to end up taking one of the 20 foot sections off and just keeping it at 40 feet because I think it’s going to be really...
I have a dosy meter that was given to me that has the H/V/HV switch built in and I have a 500 foot roll of coax so I have the equipment, I just need it to quit raining for at least one day to get this job done!!! It has rained for a week solid here in Southern Illinois
I appreciate the advice...
I just figured it was the trees, because I get audio reports from people as far south as i24 which is about 30 miles, but I lost people to the north at exit 83 and I live off exit 71. I’m not sure what else it would be?
My setup right now is an A99 on a 39" foldover tower, with another 15 feet of pipe, giving me about 54' from ground to base. I can't seem to hear to the north as well as to the south, would have to be the trees surrounding it. I am not entirely happy with this setup.
It would cost me $200 to...
Okay, I know what was wrong with this. Really.
After I got it working, there was an intermittent short, the radio would shut off and back on. It acted like a cold solder joint.
I could press on the board and it would unsquelch and briefly shut off. I looked for the cold solder joint very...
But that’s the reason I was thinking to get the y quad, it’s both vertical and horizontal. I wanted to use it vertically but when skipping I could flip the switch to horizontal. Right?
