People and especially those who work on radios as their primary source of income, tend to use the word "TEC" too often. Most are tinkerers, hobbyist (with some knowlage) or outright golden screwdrivers. IMO a tec is the one who always repairs your equipment properly, and it always works as it...
Robb. The Madison was refurbished from top to bottom 6 don't ago. Aligned, new caps and everything that could've been done s. I'd hate to have this turn into a nightmare. When the original 1969 went bad and was replaced with the eleflow, should the output of atlast 4 wtts AM and 12 SSB been...
thanks Robb. That might be a problem. I'll explain. when I gave him the radio all it needed was the final. The radio was aligned all capacitors and everything that could have possibly been upgraded had been about 5 months ago. The radio was working perfectly and the only issue was the final...
Robb. He does have an oscilloscope and other test equipment and I'm sure he's capable of bring the output up to where it should be. I would like to ask him beforehand what he plans on doing to get the output where it should be, but I don't know the questions because I don't have the knowledge...
I found an exact match on eBay. Unfortunately is used. I can't see putting a used fan in there. I guess the next logical thing might be to take it apart like another number suggested and clean and lubricate the bearings while the fan is open. There are other fans with the same specs that are...
The fan in my Palomar 500 elete calls for Sunon model no. fan 1209ptb-3 12v 1.6w. There are many available on eBay but I can't find that exact model number. I would like to replace it with a sunon but if there's another brand with the exact spec's I listed and if not can someone post a link to a...
What frequency do you normally operations on?. Would like to atempt a contact. Most of my European contacts R made on my favorite listening frequency - 27.555 USB. Call sign triple one. 80 miles south of the big apple , Southampton New Jersey. Happy DXing.
I've a variable output knob on the Madison. Before the replacement final was installed I was saying for walks on AM Ende 20 Watts on single side band with the gain knob turned all the way up. With the new
no, I did not install it myself. Last week the final went, and I gave it to a local who...
I confirmed it's an Eleflow. Should it have shown 4 watts on AM and 12-15 ssb (upon install) without having to adjust the output for those numbers using the VR pot's? If no adjustments should be necessary, maybe I should install another Eleflow. Maybe I got a bad one.. I'll wait for your reply...
There's plenty of room,, and that an excellent item, but I have quite a few amp and enjoy using them.. For someone who feels 45 watts is fine that looks like a great way to go. I saved that link and if anyone seems interested in an in rig 45 watt amp I'll pass it on. Thanks.
The final in my Madison took a dump. I had it replaced, but the new final is not A 1959. It's an aftermarket final that apparently comes from the UK., at least that's what I was told. The Madison is definitely not what it used to be. The output is low compared to the final that originally came...
I think the final or the driver just went but I doubt it had anything to do with the capacitors. All capacitors were replaced about 5 months ago and anything else that could have been replaced inside this radio as far as diodes transistors excetera excetera have been changed, and brand new ones...
Thank you very much my friend. I just checked again and taking a closer look at the external output meter I am showing somewhere in the mila watts of output, very low just barely moving the needle but with modulation it is showing very very little output. Modulation external meter is showing...
My Madison abruptly stopped operating.
This happened while I was modulating on single side band.
Here's what's happening.
No output on AM whatsoever, but is showing modulation on the rigs modulalton meter.
Showing nothing on rigs output or external watt meter.
No single sideband output...
Thanks vkrules. I'm definitely not frugal. I wish I was. My Girl keeps busting my balls about the way I spend money. I took down all the spec information from the back of the fan. It's a Sunco. I'm going to get the exact one if I can. That way the dimensions match up with the four screws that...
