Carl wins!
It appears to be wired directly to the Gain pot.
Sorry about the quality of this as all I have here today is my phone cam.
So you see anything else changed in here?
This thing just arrived....
Have not had a chance to open it up but it is a knob where they have indented reference marks into the base. It turns like a gain or volume or something.
Gimme a bit and I take a picture of its insides...
It is indeed. Received the radio today and it was 4 pin.
This battery is nothing special is it? Something I can find anywhere... did I see it was a typical 9V somewhere? Or am I dreaming?
This is a picture of the VERY early stages of set up. Many things still missing at this first stage and still on the way.
I will update as I go along but here is a list of what eventualy will be in place in the next week or so.
Ranger RCI 2980WX
PRO-2052 Dual Trunking Scanner...
Very likely something like that. They rarely go to much trouble. However I have also seen them do that on the house ground too if they can get away with it and no one is watching. I think I will tie it in. Since I can run it along the wall in a shallow trench to the house ground it should not...
Thanks Carl. You have been most helpful.
But let me ask you one more question. If I check the battery and wiring connections to see that they are good and solid, and plug this into the RCI 2980wx (assuming a 4 prong is a 4 prong and so forth), I can go ahead and test it like that? Without...
Ah! So its a TUG8 base then... unless its been rewired? Hard to say yet till I receive it.
I was looking around at some of the conversions. And found a few kits even. Going to have to do some head scratchin on this... but really can't do so till I see whats in there.
While I was...
Good deal. It may or may not work. The seller had no way to try it and knew nothing about it. But it came for $14.50 plus 8 bucks shipping.
If I am comparing pictures it appears to be a TUG9D104.
I think I want to bring it up to standards to run on a newer low impedance unit just for...
Ah... good guess. I will just have to see... But you pretty sure its a D-104. Which is why I was interested in it, working or not actually.
Another thing... is that a pair of handcuffs in the top right of the picture? Lord knows what they was using em for...
So...if I am reading what your saying correctly, I should bond this existing seperate ground to the house ground? And then use it. Since I am no more than say 40 feet to the outbuilding that the coax is going to then that should be sufficient? But as it is now the seperate grounding rod is not...
Hmmm... specs don't mention specificaly 50 ohms... but does specify its for typical radio installation. And specificaly Coax with PL-259 connectors. The brass threaded end with nuts (heh.. I said nuts) is where the ground attatches. This has a gas filled chamber off to the side. So the T is for...
Also give me your feeling on this idea I have for the Antenna mounting.
Up on the roof now I have a tripod that currently holds an unused Satellite Internet dish. It was put up there about a year or so back. These dishes are fairly large (perhaps about three times the size of a normal...
True. Thats just one blurb from the web site. Probably designed more for the common surfer. You have to remember that this blurb is designed to communicate the general tuning level philosophy and not a specific model. It would be difficult to write a blurb that covered exact details of each...
Yes... that sort of made me leary too... but some feedback here and a few other sites seemed to indicate Premier was highly thought of. And I thought I read it somewhere there that it is their policy not to clip but to upgrade and align.
And at their site they post the following specifics of...
This model is on clearance right now for $99.97 by the way.
Limited stock as they are clearing them out. In store only. So you probably will have to go to your nearest store and even likely they will have to locate one and get it for you in a couple days.
I just bought one today. And...
Anyone got some advice for setting one of these up for a real inexperienced fella like me? And any advice on things to watch for and prevent? Anyone own one of these and have some helpful feedback on its performance? Also, how accurate and useful are the built in power and SWR meters in these...
