I've had the 959, and 979 both would get a hum when the volume was turned down. Tech said it comes from the backlit face. IMO the Uniden 980 is a stellar performer, even straight out of the box.

I got no problem with anyone talking skip on 19. I often hear 163 down by the Rio Grande on 19. If they got the stuff to do it, then i say go for it...

Some reviews I have seen around the net, say they are great radios with a lot of features in a small package. Some reports i have seen say they tune up with a pep of 70 to 100 watts, with great modulation and a excellent receive.

CB radio is a rather simple concept. Buy a radio from a reputable CB shop, have said shop tune and align said radio and enjoy. As long as the buyer is happy that's all there is to it. Nothing more nothing less.
