Thanks for the comments...this wasn't my idea, it was suggested to me on another forum (that has since booted me with no explanation)...so I can't accept this as my idea, I just implemented it. The only downfall is that the all-thread is regular steel...so it needs to be painted once you get...

Yeah, I answered my own question after I thought it through...the amp itself is the problem, not the rest of my setup. I should have research the 1x2 better before I bought it...I had something similar before, never had problems. Hind sight is 20/20...

For fear of getting in trouble over another picture...I have no spring, heard too many bad things about them... It is a solid mount...and adjustable.

OK, a lot of differing input here... I'm having the same issue...antenna is tune to an almost flat 1:1, flip the amp on and the SWR goes into the red (not pegged)... Is this something to worry about, or should I not worry since the antenna is tuned correctly? I should also note the amp is...

I was doing some reading on this forum regarding the 102" whip, and someone made mention that MJF/MFJ (not sure which it is now) makes a solid whip, as opposed to a "hollow" whip. The hollow/solid reference was in context to the amount of flex the antenna has. I'm assuming it has to do more...

Make sure you *ground* the truck lid to the rest of the car...I had this problem myself.

There was discussion about SWRs changing as the 102 flexed back...I was making the statement that I didn't notice a change in SWR on my setup (a 102), nor a decrease in performance.

I've only had mine in a few days...can't really tell any difference moving or not...however, I don't have the spring which prevents it from laying back nearly as far.
