Bias design, amplifier design, filtering etc.

believe it or not...but I remember seeing a picture of an amp built inside a dryer or washing machine..... I think it was a washer Somebody posted on a forum years ago. I don't think it was as fancy of a design as you have planned looks like you got it planned right down to the non foaming...

Bias design, amplifier design, filtering etc.

I just wanted to add in an update I tested the bias on an old Palomar tx75 last night ( I removed the passive bias...I know someone will ask). Transistior were 2x srf2072. Everything went pretty well....I set the idle at around 130ma. I excited the amp with a radio insted of signal gen. I...

Bias design, amplifier design, filtering etc.

So I bring up the voltage to .6 ? Is it even worth while to limit the top end of current draw of the bias circuit? What should I expect for current draw from the bias circuit idle and with driven power ( or don't worry about it)? If collector current is 200ma idle... how much current will the...

Bias design, amplifier design, filtering etc.

OK Bob...I thought that was you that was testing a commercially made active bias years ago. It might have been your prototype. But as far as testing the bias..... The voltage and current has been tested under load. I have a steady voltage and current is limted. There is really nothing else I...

    Ontario, Canada banning CB's

They just don't look that friendly. Those guys must be models or something....I've never seen RCMP's that look that friendly. LOL

    WORLDWIDE ssb delay install

I thought they just used a relay with an internal antispiking diode ( like a Bosch ) and thats why it wasn't pictured. I've never seen a keying circuit that didn't have a diode accross the coil.

Bias design, amplifier design, filtering etc.

Nice stuff Bob... I hate etching boards. One thing I noticed right away os how thick that board looks. It doesn't even look like copper clad. I don't know if its just the picture or what, but that board looks really thick and solid. I remember seeing another bias circuit you bought many...

Bias design, amplifier design, filtering etc.

Do you have a source for those cheap pills that are used for testing.... LOL Or how about the ones that don't heat up or blow if the amp takes off into self oscillation? I could use 4 of them right now. on another note..... Did Bob etch that board for the bias? He did a pretty good...

Bias design, amplifier design, filtering etc.

Yes I understand . Thanks for the input I will definatly keep that in mind when I test it in the amp I'm still in experimental stage. This is the first time I am using a regulator IC strictly as a current limiter. This is just testing..... nothing is set in stone...nothing is put in the...

Best CB Repair Book for Beginners?

There are lots of old books made in the 70's about cb repair that can be purchased cheap. Leo Sands used to put out alot of repair/.cb books back in the day. I see them on Ebay all the time for a buck or 2. Check out some of Leo Sands books...you can usually buy them cheap.

    Ontario, Canada banning CB's

I'm from Ontario. They have been talking about doing this for years. But from what I hear its actually going through. Its includes cb and commercial radio. The people pushing this law have no idea how hard it going to make life for truckers, people that work in the bush or companies using...

    Soldering Irons

I use an old Hexacon Dial a Watt. Its not too bad for size.... it was one of the smaller ones back when it was new. Its not as small as my newer weller irons for my station... those are so small and thin they are like darts. My hexacon has been the most reliable ofver the years. I still use...

    Inside a Messenger M1500 FR Turbo (2) drv (8)

See...thats why I have always liked Jokers.....definatly one of a kind. Awsome stuff! On another note... I've always liked Messengers. The first few amps I built years ago were Messenger copies. I've used messenegers passive bias design a few times with decent results. I've never thought...

input sweeping of a snowcap 4 pill video

driving the snowcap with.... 2.5 watts swing to 10 ...and then 30 watts carrier low swing. The snowcap is running off of 12 volts. The meter is crappy but it reads a little lower ( carrier wise) than the bird. Its just a general idea of what the amp is putting it out. I didn't have a real high...

input sweeping of a snowcap 4 pill video

Its a beutifull piece of equipment ...and its real easy to use. Our company only has this one anritsu and a bird that does pretty much the same thing. The bird is kept at one of our other shops I don't work at so I have never seen it, but its pretty much the same thing. The only thing I...

W5LZ...I sure would'nt mind checking out a few other amps the same way. That would be cool. There is a guy that lives pretty close to me that has a few gater built and a bunch of daves...I would love to be able to compare the gater to a dave. All I have here is older stuff, tube and stuff I...
