Space restrictions, the tower is mounted to my Trailer and if I have just a plain jane vertical beam, compared to a quad, the lower elements will be close to the metal trailer roof.
Finding a good PDL-2 is like finding a mint Browning Golden Eagle! It's even worse that I see daily *unused* good PDL's still in the air, and the people won't sell!
So I am looking for a small Beam with PDL's legendary performance, quad like performance, the PDL's were not a true...
what is the opinion on the "digital" RF meter? Is it as responsive as a traditional meter?
Is the stock mic good(is it even noise cancelling, it has a grill), is there a good aftermarket mic that works with this radio?
Yes the K40 antenna is a base loaded type antenna and uses a special capacitor to guarantee that you'll be able to achieve a good SWR. That's why the capacitor is there. The K40 also incorporates a couple of features to reduce ambient static noise while receiving.
After I had installed the...
I don't think you fairly gave the K40 the light of day. I think this review is biased against the K40. The Wilson company has nothing to do with Wilson anymore, it's under new management and the quality(re: cheapen) could be real, but to be fair I've never owned a Wilson, I use K40's and other...
I know the more capture area you have the better the receive, but what about transmit?
How much difference would the capture area affect a 108" whip on center of a truck roof vs a monkey made or a "10k" on a semi, both radios transmitting the same power?
Also given that if both are...
I've used "EcoWave 45" soldering flux (warton-metals.co.uk/fluxes.html) to help solder an SMT with 176 pins (0.5mm fine-pitch) but I found it very difficult as bridge is formed between pins of that IC.
The trick is the temps and the solder/technique, Tip temperatures: Sn63/Pb37 (tin/lead)...
Exactly. BTW I think it looks GREAT, it's the 21st century and they are still selling Chromed bezel radios? Chromed radios should be a dying breed, this is not the 80's anymore.
These new cars have NO PLACE for a CB, a detach head is a must if you even expect to install a CB in a car, even...
No silly, I mean a high powered Class C amplifier with emissions all over the RF spectrum!
Just spread out those coils! get a motor maul,:w00t: do a technique known as “volting”. Once you get the custom amp that deadkeys 2KW AM, then we can start talking. Verify that the amp is...
I found this diagram on-line and since I'm a Tech and don't Do HF under 11 meters, I will just need a decent 10/11 meter 1/4 wave for "HF"
That diagram shows me the setup I need(for two antennas, minus the screwdriver antenna wiring, replace the MFJ-907 with a X-force amp)
I think...
No but the windows are tinted!! I bought it this way.
Why are you all recommending the 706 over the Yaesu 857? The 706 only puts out 5w on HF AM vs the Yaesu's 25 watts, which is okay since I am using a X-Force amp to pump it up, so this point is moot. (probably a x40 or x80 as the amp)
I've heard that SOME Ranger 2970's CANNOT BE EXPANDED TO THE CB BAND! That they remove those pins that the special chip dongle plugs into.
I've heard the ones sold at Ham dealers are different than the Export ones, can someone straighten me out, because I don't want one if it can't be expanded!
