TyT TH-9800 QUAD BAND MOBILE RADIO

I don't believe it will be in the 11 meter band as it''s an FM radio.... at least as far as I know it has no AM, or SSB on it...

UV-5r with out programming? Also can the uv5r TX when it's on the charger?

Once you do it manually a few times you get used to it.. Ive punched in several repeaters manually and its not hard... easier with a cable yes, but I don't always reach for the cable....

    New Anytone AT-588UV VHF/UHF Mobile

That radio really looks nice, I would hope they have a choice of display colors like most of the Chinese HT's have. I would really like it in a blue, or green display I have never liked the amber, 3 of my mobiles have had the amber display and I think they don't look good but this is for me...

Kenwood TM-261A - Problem on TX; hum but no transmit

You don't need to put another mic on it, just short the pins that key it up and if you see if its transmitting, if it is, then I would toss another mic on it and try it out... If it wont transmit when you short the pins I'd send it back.....

    Yaesu FT-400D

I'm sure it carrys a hefty price tag, and it's probably for those who do data, like APRS, etc... Thanks for the videos , it's an interesting rig no doubt, and it may be a touch screen too.... I'm sure there is a market for it in the data area... 20 or 50 watt models don't make any sense to...

    need help..VX-8R locked

I don't know how Yaesu unlocks, but when I bought my Wouxun commercial dual band radio it came locked, and I had to hook it to my PC and use the software provieded to unlock it before I could use it. You may need to contact Yaesu. On mine when I lock it I simply hold the lock button down for...

    New Anytone AT-588UV VHF/UHF Mobile

I miss read the specs list, it says " Tuning knob and vol knob on each VFO" that tells me it has a knob to tune, and a knob for volume. My guess it the squelch control might be in a menu, and I would hope not... I see a button on the top left, it says TV/SQL I think, and maybe you push...

    New Anytone AT-588UV VHF/UHF Mobile

That looks like a very interesting radio indeed. I'm wondering if those knobs on upper deck on each side are in fact squelch knobs so you dont have to hunt in the menu for the squelch. That is a plus if they are. I think with 9600 on it, there will be options for data. I'm not a data guy...

    Handitalke to base station

I assume you are only transmitting one way, and that is half duplexing, where you transmit to your base, it transmits to the repeater, and you in turn listen to that repeaters output with your HT. The same HT you do yout transmitting with on the 440 band,, to your base radio. This will work...

    Handitalke to base station

You set your base radio up for 2 meter repeater and 440 simplex.... You set your HT on a 440 simplex freq using a ctcss tone.... You say " Hello this is WXYABC for ID " on your 440 side of your HT.. so far your legal, you said your call, your HT sent it on 440 to the base, the base put...

    Handitalke to base station

When you do decide to hook that antenna up to your rig, I would suggest you also use a good quality coax such as LMR 400 or 9913 because at VHF and UHF frequencies, using a cheap poor grade coax will be like trying to water your lawn with a hose thats full of pinholes, less then half the water...

    Yaesu FT-400D

Looks to be a data radio for the aprs, gps, bluetooth fans etc... Not a bad looking rig but the control head is almost twice the size of the radio body... Don't know how you would attach that large head to the radio itself... it's also a 50 watt rig, Not much info on it, theres are a few...

    Wouxun KG-UV920R

The UV 920R mobile is a disappointment for me, Ive seen several videos on Youtube, not in English, but you can see the functions of the radio, and it's basically the same as my UV 6X Wouxun HT. There are no functions in the menu outside of Crossband that are not on my HT. Everything is...

UV-5r with out programming? Also can the uv5r TX when it's on the charger?

There are also many videos on Youtube on how to program the UV 5R... I did mine manually until my cable came which only took 4 days in the mail. I didnt order it from Hong Kong, there are places here that have the cable and its not expensive. If you dont want to keep hitting the MENU then a...

Wouxun KG-UV920R Price and Availability Update

One of the things that concerns me as much as the price of this mobile rig is service. A little over 20 years ago I bought an Icom 2400A dual bander at my local ham store. It worked great for a week, then one day I turned it on, it flickered, went out and then nothing, no light no sound, it...

Wouxun KG-UV920R Price and Availability Update

I think the lowest you will find these UV920 rigs will be $300, and thats only after they have been out for a while... Plus there is no support for them. I think it will be an interesting radio, and I'd like to see a Review compared with the big names we have known for years and see how it...

    Highest Gain HT Antenna?

You can Google this stuff all day long, but the proof of any antenna is with hands on use and testing. I'd rather hear real time user reviews over all the crap there is on Google. I think this is a good thread, and I've been a ham since 1977 and have tried and experimented with dozens of...
