being a good repairer (with a good rep) and a youtube queen = slower turnaround
thats the trade off in becoming a internet queen
mike prob gets 100 emails or more a day ..x that by 5 mins each ..
only 1/5 of them will be people that actually are people wanting HIM to repair their radio
..the...
tx/rx switching transistor shorted (locked in tx mode on power up) the small glitch you are creating on power up by holding in that key will be fooling cpu command (cpu looks for tx signal inhibit so it knows to stop scanning if you key the mic) ..
time to look at voltages in the tx/rx...
you said it its on ch17..is it actually tx/rx on ch17 in the real world....... in other words people talking on the real ch 17 can hear you and you can hear them ?
(if not then the vco is out of lock somewhere in the pll system )
the reason i ask this is....
a mistake people make is changing...
yes really the best way to go ..when they make a dongle that does 10mhz without a convertor i would look at sdr via the I.F of a cb radio (have not looked for a while as heading the mcHF sdr way soon as my next project )
making your own 10.695mhz filters is not hard...look at that page and look at the bitex kit the hams use..for construction of multi pole filters ...select 2 pole filters and cascade to your liking ..all about the slope bro ...get your learn on but really 4khz on ssb is ok ..any wider and the ham...
no not in the ssb tx path ..after the double sideband suppressed carrier leaves the balance modulator chip it goes to the IF path via the main filter depending on what mode its on (ssb) to remove the unwanted sideband product then on to the mixers and out to the driver ..no switched transistor...
joe the stock filter in a dx2547 or even the styker 955 (the main 10.695 filter used on ssb) is 4.2khz wide at the -3db points(give or take) ... the 10.695m4d filter which comes in most 10695 if radios bar a few exceptions ..so fairly ok for a "mid fi" essb ..certainly wider than some of the...
yes and no..you could get away with using a pair of caps to spilt the path however some adjust ability in gain between am and ssb of the audio input would be something to look at maybe ?
not my thing rob..maybe you sparked some interest in my end on it now ..look out for a hifi yeti radio...
robs not getting it joe ..lol
rob you dont modulate the final in essb ..you modulate the balanced modulator in ssb
below is block diagram of galaxy 2547
the modulators that mmm and asymod use go directly to the final and totally bypass the audio path for am..ssb audio path does not modulate...
no need mike...the refund thing..like it said just a heads up and i had my own caps on hand (he had to order kit as some i am currently low on stock on till after new year) ..all good bro
rob you dont need a board for essb or "voodoo" ssb ...no board needed at all ..no need for a modulator in ssb just injection into balanced modulator (bypassing all the audio limiting and audio tailoring components )and of course receive mods to audio chain and if filter
boards are cheap to be made (proper pcb boards )...alot less than vero board (you call perf) is to buy in actual fact robb..plenty of places in china that will make 5 boards for 10 bucks ..pcbway is one .
i actually spoke to john about this over a year ago on fb messenger even offered him a crate of radios at cut throat prices to get him started on it..then the conversation died ..it was him that had the idea (posted something about it in a group i think it was) i just made him the offer as...
