I would recap the sinader check the power supply in it and realign the sinader and try again. In some cases lower the receiver gain for better sinad is ok. Example would be if the radio has a lot of background noise. If the signal is weak your not going to hear it through the noise floor any...
Quality plug wires will help and quality coax is a must. Better the
Shielding usually helps with noise. If you're using a magnet mount try a fixed mount antenna
And may sound weird but I have even gone to the extreme of using coax for the power wires
Going to the radio.
With a beam and 1000 watts or so your just going to punish your neighbors and piss off the locals if you do any hack mods. Put your Galaxy on a qualified tech bench have aligned in the band you're most likely to talk on the most and with a scope set the modulation to no more than 100 percent...
Why not so much on other radios? If done right which most people don't then most radios will be splatter radios. You can not do a swing kit modification properly without a scope, period. Every radio is different and reading in mod magazines or your buddy says to just add this resistor diode...
This will only increase the dead key power.
It is not part of the output stage that is audio driven so there will be no more pep power
gained from Audio power.
No, there is no warranty if you take the covers off for any conversion or mods. No warranty for any 10-12 meter radios unless it's bone stock never been opened and bought from a legitimate dealer.
I agree, these radios that are menu driven completely suck for Mobil operations. Especially if you can't directly see the display. They have a lot of nice features but still suck in the mobile.
They are trying hard to keep service info and schematics out of reach anymore. If we can fix them ourselves and service them then that's less they sell. Or at least that's the reasoning behind it.
That will be a hack job if you don't put the right value resistor in series with the diode. You will need a scope to properly set this mod up. Different values for different power settings and proper mic gain setting or it will be a splatter box.
bad keying diode. D-71 in that radio i believe. if you dont have the diode on hand try 2 1n4148 diodes in series instead. hope this helps.
