    Galaxy 2547 getting hung up

I'd like to look at doing a 10-meter version of the DX2547. Something with maybe 100-150 watts out with two Toshiba 2SC2290s but that might mean no onboard power supply. Similar to what Icom does with their small low priced base/mobile models. Change the LEDS to LCD and go out 6-8 digits with a...

    Galaxy 2547 getting hung up

Check the transmit and receive switching transistors Q33 and Q30 respectively. Collector of Q33 should be 8.0vdc in TX and 0.0vdc in RX. Collector of Q30 should be 0.0vdc in TX and 8.0vdc in RX. Make sure the negative lead on your voltmeter is attached to PC board ground and not chassis...

    Another Galaxy question

Need a little more information on your system. Any noise toys installed? Radio direct to antenna only no amp? Both DC power wires direct to the battery? Tried using a stock Galaxy mic? Do other people tell you they hear the hum when you transmit or just you hear it through the talkback...

    galaxy 919

The old Cobra 29 is tough to beat from what I've heard. However the next generation of DX919s should have the mosfets which will make them much better in the output power department.

DX959 (new MOSFET version) dual final mod?

You can find the 4 turn in any dual final Galaxy chassis radio if you have one laying around for parts. If not you can use some good ole ingenuity and convert your 7 turn to a 4 turn easy enough. 8)

DX959 (new MOSFET version) dual final mod?

Both main PC boards appear to be close enough in this respect. You seem to have most areas covered. Remember to change out coil L35 to a 4 turn for dual finals and add the a 47pf in C202 on the output. Then adjust VR11 for 3.65 volts in SSB TX on the bare lead of the 1K resistor at L34...

hmmm, did it buzz before you changed out all those parts? Does the buzzing sound speed up or slow down when you move either of the echo controls?

    dx33hp

What he said. 8) The mosfets have more gain than the original bipolars did so you can make a slight adjustment to the AMC holding time by changing R178 from a 4.7K to a 1K ohm 1/4 watt. This will give you more range on VR14 (hi pwr mod adjust), VR23 (med pwr mod adjust) and VR12 (low...

    The story behind the AR-3500!

Ah yes engineered by Victor T. One of the best in the business. He was certainly Sam's golden goose so to speak. The AR series were radios far ahead of there time. I hear Vic is changing the audio world for his current boss. 8)

    Galaxy DX959 user's review

Yes, I would say the radios are "in the ballpark" but not perfect and we do often have radios sent in for alignments which are covered under warranty. One of the advantages to buying from a reputable service center over some truckstops would be they normally test and align as needed right out of...

    Galaxy DX959 user's review

no parts clipped, changed, or removed, just a few pots turned, and this radio SCREAMS!!! Well I don't like getting into wattmeter debates but I will say the new Galaxy CB models with mosfets are what I call "sleepers". They come out of the box very subdued but with a little knowledge and...
