    Sams PhotoFacts Collection

Sorry to bother again! By chance would you or anyone in this thread have the original Cobra 29 service manual? I'm looking for the 23 channel one, not the newer 40 channel units. I think it's in Sams CB-56.

    Cobra 19XS Faceplate Removal

Got it, the rig's from 1985 so I wasn't sure if it was due or not. I'll look into realignment, I found the service manual online. I may come back and post some pics of the board when I get home this evening.

    Cobra 19XS Faceplate Removal

So another question... Receive seems kinda weak on this rig. Transmit is just fine. I can only pick up anyone local and the S meter only works when a signal is local. Background noise isn't making it budge. Not even Channel 6 comes booming in. Anyone know if and when a recap might be needed...

    Cobra 19XS Faceplate Removal

Not the worst thing I could hear but...close :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I did get to looking this afternoon on the web and it seemed to confirm that Cobra did this to many of their radios - in fact many CB manufacturers did. One way that removal COULD be attempted would be with a heat gun, a...

    Cobra 19XS Faceplate Removal

Hi all, I just picked up a Cobra 19XS from eBay and wanted to change the dead S meter bulb. Any ideas of how to get the front faceplate off? I've removed the 4 screws in the sides holding it on but it's not budging. Any ideas? Thanks!

    What connector/connection is this?

Oh...that might be a problem. Would that mean that it takes an SO239 base?

    What connector/connection is this?

Hi all, I found a bunch of these at a yard sale for like a buck or two and picked them up. Any idea what base these went to? All I know is that it's made by Antenna Specialists

    Midland 13-857 Talkback Mod?

I'm back... Well, it actually works! I have to put the radio in Ext. CB mode but it works great!

    Midland 13-857 Talkback Mod?

That makes so much sense! In the circuit though C98 is connected to 13.94V when the radio is in PA mode. So technically the ext. CB/PA shield isn't grounded? I feel like I'm not looking at this right

    Midland 13-857 Talkback Mod?

And that's where I'd bridge the resistor as well, is between the two ground pins?

    Midland 13-866 Final/Driver Replacement

    In the meantime, I DID find these according to this sheet. RFParts has the 1957 and the 2166: 2SC1018 -> 2SC1957, 2SC1760, 2N3553(?) 2SC1239 -> 2SC2166

    Midland 13-857 Talkback Mod?

Awesome. I'll give it a shot. One more thing, it has 3.5mm jacks that look like this: Is the ground terminal the one closest to the front of the jack? For reference here is the section of the schematic I'm worried about:

    Midland 13-857 Talkback Mod?

Hi everyone, I have a good-looking Midland 13-857 that was quite the eBay steal. I'm wondering if there is an easy mod I could do that would add talkback to it. Would this radio work with the resistor mod that most Cobras use? This link outlines the mod if you're not too familiar with it...

    Midland 13-866 Final/Driver Replacement

That's what I was afraid of. I'll look around and see what I can find. I have seen some on eBay but I've been told to be careful of fakes and I'd rather not buy NOS.
