This still does not explain the poor receive on the higher bands such as 20, hearing the signal reports on the traffic I hear does not add up with the results I see, most stations from 20 to 10 don't even show on the s meter with all the pre-amps on. T23

I have an end fed dipole for 40 meters, but when I use it to receive on 20, 11 and 10, I get very low received signal strength. A signal might peak at an S-3 TOPS with all the pre-amps on. Would an antenna actually made for these other bands receive significantly better? T23

Where can I find threaded sheet metal u-clips for an amp project? I am looking for some of the same size but have a molded nut built into the clip. I know of the flat not threaded ones at the hardware store. T23

Hello, I am thinking of eventually trying to convert a Kris Boomer sweep tube amplifier to a currently in production tube, I see that the EL509 will work, but they stopped making the ones with the plate caps in 2008 and all there is now is NOS. They also have an octal version still in production...

If I were to grid/screen modulate this transmitter, would I connect the modulation transformer the same way? It might be better. This way, I believe the voltage is lower on the grid. T23

Ok, I see. I was looking into grid modulation too, but saw that at voice peaks the output actually dropped of, negative swing if you will. So it looks like. I'll modulate the driver then. T23
