Good reception poor transmit

I guess this is the right place to post this question. I recently bought a Sirio M-400 and got it put up, the mast is around 18’ and it’s strapped to the side of my house, idk the exact overall height but it’s well above the peak of the roof. I’ve got a Stryker 955 hooked to it on 14.8 volts...

SWR question

I noticed taking a cobra 29 out of a truck with low swr and hooking up a Stryker in its place to the same antenna the swr is higher. You always read your tuning the antenna to the vehicle not to the radio but I think I disagree. My question is should the swr be checked with the 20 watt dk power...

Mic cord getting hot

Has anybody here ever had the little spring right where the cord goes into the mic get hot when you transmit?
