I tought the G3 was a repacked BF-F8+ 2 nd Gen I could be wrong. I just ordered a BF-F8+ for 37.00 & free shipping at Amazon if it falls out of the Tree Stand I'll just bury it where it fell. My Icom didn't fair to well last year and that hurt I still grieve it's loss.
A couple of SPST mini switches and spool of hook up wire, available at Rat shack. Honestly I see no reason to add channels to a 4 watt AM radio. I did that once and I was talking to myself even on 500 watts.
A stock never had the hood up cobra 25 should have a 5 amp fuse in the line one that has been peaked & tuned should have a 7-10 amp fuse. It should cost you less than 20 to have the Diode replaced. Seems a shame to pay that much for a 1.50 component that takes less time to replace that it does...
I have no love for our Lazy Bureaucratic parasite of an uncle, Uncle Charles. However it chaps My Arse when they pick on a guy for makin the neighbours TV fuzzy runnin 100 watts and let stuff like this slide, not that one is better than the other but Selective Enforcement isn't right either...
Everybody has a Smart phone these days go to the Market and get a free App( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.guentherkrauss.audio.audiotesttonegenerator) for a Tone generator and use that to adj the dead key. That whistlein AUUUUDIOOO BS is what you get from a TS cb hack Golden...
You really need a Dummy load so your not transmitting a signal while your adjusting. I like to set the AM dead key less than 3 watts and 100 % modulation with the mic gain at full open. SSB transmit power is all modulation there should be no carrier present any thing more than 100% is self...
Down load this tone generator app to your Phone http://www.androidblip.com/android-apps/justo.jimenez.generadoraudio.html hook up a watt meter in your out put line, put the radio on SSB start the Tone generator app put the mic near the speaker to get the signal into the radio, make sure that...
Did you check the Coax That looks like that cheap over priced TS stuff I have seen in a previous life before retirement where the ground was broken in the Pl-259, or to much heat was used to solder the ground and melted the dielectric causing a short.
Your counterpoise elements need to be a least the length or longer than the radiating element. On 11 meters they should be 108". The antenna posted by camaro1 is also called the T2LT and is a good talker.
I'd be willing to bet you popped the protection diode you will find it located where the power hooks to the board and near the small transformer they are black with a silver stripe on one end . Invest in a volt meter too. Radio shack PN 276-1102 about a 1.50 for 3
