maco 5/9 vs IMAX 2000 "POLL"

My fiberglass antennas have lasted me 30 and 40 years because I always wrap them in wiring loom. The loom becomes sacrificial as the UV rays damage it instead of the antenna. My A99 is close to 20 years old. My IMAX is close to 15. The fibrglass on each is holding up fine. A Workman Bandit...

    11 meter is very quiet?

Life is tough down here. Handling all that sunblock is a survival skill no one should be without.

FM on CB - Are you working it?

How many of you are operating on CB in FM mode? Is there a group in your area? Are you working skip in FM mode on any of the standard 40 channels? With 2025 predicted to bring us the peak of this cycle's skip activity it would be great to know where the FM activity is so that we can make skip...

    Presidents " new" private channels.

That and more. As long as there is a battery in it today's cell phone can be hacked and commandeered as a listening device.

    Presidents " new" private channels.

Today's generation has no idea how much privacy they have lost. Most folks don't realize that as long as there is a battery in it your cell phone can be hacked and/or tapped. They have this incorrect false sense that everything is O.K. as long as the phone is turned off. Wrong. There is a...

    Presidents " new" private channels.

Midland called them "PRIVACY CODES". Same stuff. Absurd marketing ploy. GMRS and Amateur operators have got to be getting a good laugh out of this.

    Shakespeare 5223 Marine CB Antenna

I did just that before putting it up. The antenna went up only after an analyzer confirmed that readings were where they should be. I took it down last night and will give it another blast this morning. It is expensive enough that I'd like to get a few years use out of it - though everything...

    Shakespeare 5223 Marine CB Antenna

That capacitor is very finicky. Workable readings one second and bizarre ones the next.

    Shakespeare 5223 Marine CB Antenna

The antenna is over 10 years old. I purchased it new and had it stored away until recently because of some health issues.

    Shakespeare 5223 Marine CB Antenna

Unfortunately, not any more. When I set it up, the antenna gave me an almost flat SWR on 27.330. It went up to 2.64 on channel 1 and 1.34 on channel 40. Resonance was at 27.435. Keep in mind that those figures came after several hours of tweaking. I was not going to mess with it any...

    Shakespeare 5223 Marine CB Antenna

Does anyone have any experience with these? I have two of them. The top section of my A99 got knocked around pretty well and stripped the threads. Compliance with property and zoning regulations here pretty much require that a stick antenna be used. I had a Radio Shack Archer crossbow 1/2...

    Finally Did It...

The GMRS group in the Miami area has a repeater antenna up on top of a tall building, so it is several hundred feet up in the air. Boaters with GMRS walkie talkies have hit the Miami repeater from the Bahamas. The South Florida set up serves its area really well.
