    Chinese Clone???

And your correct, It will not fit. I was refering to the Boafeng hand mic. However if you have exceptional soldering skills you may want to try something like I did, It allows the radio to acheave full deviation in 5 and 2.5 KHz modes, And it too works very well. I at some point in the future am...

This is a one of a kind Mobile Antenna

I would like to understand this as well. Judging from it's construction there got got to be multikilowatts flowing out of that mobile. Kind of make me wonder what the safe distance would be when he cranks that up. Might be better off putting wheels and a engine on a microwave and drive that...

    Chinese Clone???

Make sure it is the two terminal electret element and observe the polarity and you should be good to go. You can even widen the hole for the audio a little if you like. I opened it to 1/8 and it works very well.

    Chipswitch

I would wire up a mic for it and see what it does/ dosent do. KInd of hard to see if the chipswitch is functioning right if the radio isn't. Perhaps send it out to be fixed and hold on to it?

    Chinese Clone???

Swapping out the cheap element in the Boafeng handmic with one of those ratshack electrets works wonders as well.

    Mic parts and refurb

Never use anything abrasive on those contacts. Most are silver plated, and if you remove it you will have nothing but trouble with it. your best bet when cleaning those is alcohol or beleive it or not for those really dirty contacts a couple drops of brake cleaner on a cotton swab seems to...

How do multi transistor amps work?

Glad to see you have a genuine interest in how amplifiers work. Good luck in your research.

    Heathkit SB201a

It is never a good idea to hot rod these amplifiers. They were never ment to be pushed that hard. A good rule of thumb if you want reliable service and want solid power is to have a big enough amplifier and run it WAY below it's specs and it will last a lifetime with minimal maintinance.

DTB "IF Filter Mod" for RCI 29xx radios?

"The 2950 I aligned/own has all of the alignment values set to stock, except for a small upward tweak on both the AM modulation and SSB/ALC. Even at stock VCO voltage, it still has a nasty receive compared to a Uniden chassis radio. The TX is all fine 'n dandy; just the receive is subpar"...

    Hi gain HT antenna

I am using the NR-770 with a dual bad only HT. The NR-770 gives you 1/2 on 2 and 2x5/8's on 70cm. Thought about using the Diamond SG-7900a or the Commet 790a....But that would be overkill. Using maldol and a counterpoise is a bit much when you want to stay portable. The NR-770 works...

Texas Star DX500 and high SWR

You have to watch how much you bias. To much and you add more heat before your even modulate it. I never go by the bias voltage, But rather the idle current. I have found that it best set between 120 to 130 ma. per transistor pair. The trick with active temp bias tracking is to keep it in the...

DTB "IF Filter Mod" for RCI 29xx radios?

Wow, 6 pages on this modification. I have been working on the "DX" models since the second generation first came out. And not one of those radios that suffered from the "white noise" issue was ever cured by doing it. I am also trying to figure out how "image rejection" and "White noise" are...

Texas Star DX500 and high SWR

I am aware of what they cost nowadays and have multible sets on hand. I have had the amplifier more than ten years without having a heat related failure. It helps to be mindfull of your transmissions when using it. 50 cfm's worth of cpu cooling fans helps as well. The most important...

    Hi gain HT antenna

Well I have setteled on using my Diamond NR-770. It's a bit long and cumbersom but I don't think it can get much better than it is. Seems to work excellent.
