Texas Star DX500 and high SWR

There are other issues that could be contributing to this problem as well. I also beleive that if the bias devider network was replaced with the voltage regulated bias source it would help a good deal. I have seen issues with self oscillation with them also.
  2. The Mad Scientist

Texas Star DX500 and high SWR

Sorry to hear that Brett, but it isn't supprising. Most tech's that I have mentioned this problem to pretty much said the same thing..."Good luck with that"!. The fact the he said that he couldn't see how it would help is pretty much self explanitory. I would send Ed one of them as I suggested...

    k40 or sirio p5000

I really don't want to start another thread on it so here is the link to the thread; http://www.worldwidedx.com/cb-antennas/140362-wilson-5000-rebuild.html?highlight=wilson+5000+rebuild And here...
  4. The Mad Scientist

    k40 or sirio p5000

I am glad to hear you have had no problems. Do you know under what name the Wilson was manufactured? there are three different company names that these antennas have been manufactured under. The barjan made antennas are the one that have the history of failing, and or not working right out...

    What's the point?

In your world maybe. All of that can be obtained without any arguements. The only thing you are sure of is who you will be instagating next. If you don't have anything intelligent to say or valid insights to any thread perhaps you should just sideline yourself. But we all know that wont...

    Yaesu FTM-350AR Discontinued!

    Yaesu FTM-350AR Discontinued!

    k40 or sirio p5000

I have spoken to D.A.S. several times about the issues with the Wilsons, And they seem to be a respectable company. Only time will tell.

    k40 or sirio p5000

It isn't so much cheaply made, But rather very limited or no quality control.

    k40 or sirio p5000

I Have disected both of these antennas and that is a direct measurement.
  15. The Mad Scientist

    k40 or sirio p5000

The Sirio 5000 series are electrically longer that the Wilsons are. The electrical length of the 5000 wilson is 102" and change while the sirio's are about 108" in length. Having used a wilson for more than ten years and then trying a Sirio 5000 series it is the difference between night and...

I will tell you that Wilson sucks as well. I am talking about the ones produced under the Barjan name. It is not objective opinion but a fact.

    Browning ping or squeal sound

All that ping is, was a discharge of a screen cap in the Brownings. Many have tried to duplicate this sound with modules to no avail. I used to have the Browning mk4A and put two different values on a piece of perf board installed in the back of the radio on standoff's with a switch. One for a...
