I missed that bit of info in my reading of this thread, teach me to try to read quickly & not take notes.... I went off the pic Sonoma posted page 1 post #11. That was a pic I could follow along with. Looking back @ that pic I noticed that it says Grant lt... Just my luck.
What TP do I want to use?
Please forgive me for resurrecting this year old thread, I do it because it is the same topic; the Fc347 frequency counter. I am NOT a tech in anyway shape or form. I am having a problem wiring it into my Grant XL, & having it work properly. I have followed the picture that Sonoma posted. So...
My 1st Grant XL. Nothing fancy, had a 2 watt d/k, & all the frequencies I could ever want (26.500- 28 000) unlocked clarifier, external continuous readout frequency counter, & was as clean of a modification job as I've ever seen!
Maybe I can replicate that one someday soon, already picked up a...
I'm sure interested in GK's preamp. Saw that video a while back, & sent an email to the one shown & never heard back...
Would be nice to have that installed in the little TS I'm running....
Channel 9? Crickets. I'd have a better chance to call another operator & have them relay to 911 dispatch. Heck, did that 20+ years ago, was 3rd on scene at a vehicle vs power pole. No cell service for those who had them.
Cb w/ spectrum display might be pretty cool. I'd kinda like a stand alone unit that can be incorporated into my current radio. Maybe something with an o-scope function for modulation... hey I can hope & dream can't I?
I know very little about antennas, I'm here to learn. I posted that as that was the response I got to an email I sent them asking how they tested the antennas. I figured that the ones in the know would be able to chime in & shed more light. I personally, think it just makes more questions.

Our antennas are used in Shootouts and competitors are putting 5,00 watts dead key into the antennas. If you run high wattage you can't run a plastic cap on top because the nail dissipates the heat from the high wattage being run.

A copy & paste of the email I received from...
Thank you. I think I'm understanding what you're saying, the dimple on the end of the knob that you can see in good light or feel. I've kinda been trying to get something like that done, I just haven't given it too much thought as to how. I have considered a clear resin, I'm just not too sure as...
I understand the desire of knobs, not menus. As for the pc122 & the like, from what I understand they are pretty darn good. Consider getting it recapped & aligned fairly early.
I used 3mm uv leds. I ran 3 leds per resistor for most of them. Tapped into switched power to run them all, no extra switches. I installed them into the back of the steel that the knobs & switches mount to. I did have to grind the dome down/off so that they would fit in the .110" space between...
Hopefully y'all don't get to unhappy with me for bringing this thread back to life. However I've been wanting to do something to give my radio a little custom look without looking too cheesy. I liked the look of the Grant lt, yet didn't care for the green. From what I have seen, nobody made...
Just curious, was the sound tracker enabled? I have heard of people having issues with the way it sounds. From what I remember the st enabled radio sounded great to another st enabled radio. Everyone else thought it sounded like crap...
