Ol' Mr Mike wanted to soak my ass for $300.00 once for working on my Johnson 4740.. I said no way and he did lower the bill to $180.00 but holy hell that's the MOST i have EVER had to pay for a repair bill on ANY CB radios that i have owned in all my 30+ year... I'll never send another radio to...
Him and i used to email back and forth. Last time i talked to him (last summer or so) he said he wasn't doing to well health wise.. Hes a very nice fella and both of us are radio collectors..
God luck having anyone work on it was it uses a DSB and thats like kryptonite to most techs. The ones here will either tell you to take it back home or sit on it for months on end making up excuses to not work on it...
I just got a LNIB RCI 2995DX and the power seems to be set low. On AM it keys up 30 but only swings to about 75 and on SSB im lucky if i see 80... I see others post that they get more but mine seems to be a dog...
I have a Robyn that my friend gave me (said get it out of here or tis going into the trash) that is dead. The channel readout is dark and no TX/RX. Any ideas as the radio is not in bad shape and i'd rather not scrap it.
I have two of them. Ones NOS and the other i got from a ham. The ham kept one and sold me one. The one he uses he rebuilt with heavier wire and he normally runs at least 1 KW into it on SSB with no issues on 10 meters. But like another poster said it doesn't like moisture and it will react...
I found a couple of bases (no tops) big sticks laying along the fence i forgot i had. I put one up and used a Francis 96" antenna and got a OK swrs of 1.5 to 1.7 on all 40. Is this normal for this antenna?
Yeah if he has a deep pocket.... He charged me almost 300.00 for working on a old Johnson CB.... That's the MOST i have ever had to pay for ANY CB radio i have ever owned.. I bitched a fit and he lowered it to $180.00 but ill never send him another radio again. He's good but i cant afford him...
Ground mount put down as many rafiaks as you can. One of my ham buddy's runs a hustler 6 btv with 60 50' ground radials tacked to the ground. He works dx with np.
