D104 set to o and radio on 31 mike gain, check freq of your channel could be off freq , not hard to do with this radio put on channel you want and hit freq button if wrong dial in correct frq and then back to channel button
Use your KL503HD with selector switch around the 3 or 4 setting less dead key but lots more swing out of box , been using mine for around 2 years now. I drive with a 5555N11 set at 8 watts dead key and kl set at number 3 position and I get 250-275 watts out of it and sounds very good & strong...
seller 88radio tells me rating is P-P rating of HD version, I just using a 5555n11 put in 25 watt dead key and got 450 watts P-P out of it. I run HD with around 8-9 watts dead key and P-P is around 35 watts ,with KL503HD connected and swith in 3 rd position I get 250-275 watts been using this...

Been using for over a year now on base and mobile HD version no problems except 2 in truck lost preamp but linear still works great . puts out 250-300 with 35 watts PeP ,using 5555N11 radio with around 8 watts dead key.
