The 2 guys I saw measure the wattage on those, they didn't go anywhere near 10 watts. par for the course with Chinese radios. If it has a better front-end, that alone is definitely worth it. I like UV5R "chassis" radios because there are so many battery, & accessory options out there for them...

PART NUMBER FOR "SUPER VARACTOR DIODE"

Well, I just replaced the stock varactors in my '78 Sears Roadtalker SSB with Motorola MV1404 Hyper-Abrupt Varactor Tuning Diodes (96 - 144 pF) and it gave me about 6.5khz up and 5.5khz down worth of "slide". Before, it had like 1.5khz each way. These suckers are highway-robbery but here's the...

Comment by 'metalguy66' in media 'rear engine for electrical system'

LOL.. Well, you figure 144amps per alternator x 6 @13.8v.. Thats still only about 16HP in terms of watts. (minus frictional & efficiency losses). You could drive alot more with that Chevy Small Block V8... Throw another belt/pulley system on the front of the engine with 6 more! hahah..
