no i just feel let down they cant bring out a compact ssb rig with wx yet they fit in in the 980 (except for the midland 79 290) if it had wx i would walk in and buy one and i dont see the point in spending ,,grant 2 ,, money when you could get a used dx70 or 706 icom

980 has wx and no wideband and this ,,new,, grant2 has wideband but no wx! ok its a euro market radio but come on president! yeticom site suggests made in france not china comments on topic please!

is there a way to block accidental tx on frequencies your antenna is not swr,d for? i was looking to get another dx70 for mobile use and i like to rx around the bands but i know from experience that an accidental key drop the mic bump it ect when your not running a matcher or have good swr ect...

its a 77 117 it has ch 9 switch on the wx ch selector. and a cb/wx switch and this ALM button but if u press it when in cb mode it seems to do nothing if u press it when in wx mode it seems to silence the wx broadcast also if you are in wx mode it seems the ch 9 switch which is on the rotary...

hi thanks again for the info:thumbup: as far as i know this is the only mobile set with multimode and wx from the factory . hard to find though and expensive but there also seems to be another version that does have fm but im not sure it also has wx great informative clear you tube video...

hi 22 yes i agree my 25 wx st bangs in wx anywhere! i drove socal to ne ohio and got it all the way i would love this feature on a multimode il be looking inside a wx set soon to see if any have a self contained seperate unit you could graft into another radio or maybe buy a wx only cheap...

maybe i did ask the wrong question? so if i lengthen the antenna to a longer overall resonant total length should it work better? i would think so otherwise we would all be using 1 foot rubber ducks instead of a 9 foot steel whip! so..... what would the next reasonable resonant length be...

hi m.s yeah that is interesting i was just thinking about 1/4 waves etc and how i used to make basic antennas as a kid simply based on fractions of the full wavelength beams virticals allsorts of stuff this is why i thought ,,well surely if i make the total 9 feet it ,,should,, work better...

thanks jerk that was actually a helpfull reply so it sounds like an ok ,,twig,, heres the thing i lost the ,,coil,, so would need to replace it anyways. and nobody is actually answering me i want to know if lengthening the coil wire OR the whip OR both will improve the rx/tx with this...

figured i would start a mod thread here instead. so anyboy know any radios you could have as multi mode multi block but with the wx channels? maybe add blocks and modes to a 40 cb/wx set or maybe fit the wx parts from the 40ch into a multi mode? i would like 1 radio with all front user controls...
