As per the advice of a few members I've been using the VOACAP propagation preproduction map/site.
I enjoy it and use it more to see what's posibly happening on the amateur bands (with envy!).
As most know VOACAP's predictions only list amature bands 10- 160.
My question is how close would the...
I agree. I don't know why anyone would concider the a99 over an I max. Thr only reason I purchesed mine was, it was bought by a friend of mine who did me a favor and went to a local cb shop while I was out of town.
I told him to get an I max 2000, but the shop only had the a99, so he bought it...
I've made sevral contacs to Australia, southAfrica, eactcoast of Turkey. Antenna hight for skip is inconsiquntial. Mobile'swith 102" whips do it all the time. And their only 4' off the ground. Do I transmittt 12 watts? No, but if conditions are there anyone with a long wire would have a shot...
I've s friend who's concidering building a small 11 meter beam.
Is it possible to build one from a proven plan without the use of an analyzer?
If so can someone throw a few suggestions my way.
It will be his first antenna build so simplicity and low cost is basically what he's looking for.
If you haven't purchesed an amp already why fuss with a mobile one that's gonna need a power supply, and imo 1600 watts is over kill and the difference on the other end will be negligible from a 500 through 700 watt amp.
Get yourself a Palomar 300a or the like.
Granted the tubes are more...
After the nightmare that was caused after I cut 30' of extra LMR 400 I almost gave up.
I sent my coax to my tec, along with a few other pieces of equipment that needed attention, and he replaced the pl259 that I installed then removed it and did it again.
Obviously both of my pl259 soldering...
I actually believed the poor job i did on replacing the pl259 that was removed when i cut the extra 30' of LMR 400 was the cause of the swr and problems that didn't exist before I replaced shortened the coax and attempted replacing the pl259.
I sent my LMR 400 to my tec along with some...
I mentioned in my op about the audio on AM/ssb, and will say it again. The audio's exstramly impressive in both modes.
I'm sure anybody who has the chance to hear, atlest the one I heard will agree. It's truly impresive audio. .
I'm not familiar with the way skip works.
I'm in nj and I don't know if Italy makes it to the west coast, garrenttyes Geancarlo's signal will pass through nj on it's way west.
Giancarlo was my first and only European contact on AM.
It was on channel 28 in February.
I normally use the sonar...
Friday Sept 11. Contacted 860 (Barry) in Trinidad. Nice qso. Very strong signal sent and recived (excellent conditions).
Also a few other contacts 87 in Granaida.
All on 27.555 usb.
Got my fix.
I'm still hoping conditions get better as fall rolls in.
A ticket is becoming a reality I can't...
This is kinda exactly what i got from 148. Beyond saying it's a Dave made transmitter, he got all myseriosso when questioned further.
I got the vibe and dropped out at two questions.
As I mentioned in my op I was just qiouious.
I've no intrest in owning one.
I'm happy with what I have and am...
TThat's funny. I couldn't remember the specific radio program I wanted to compair the way 148 runs his station, and that's it. Dr. Dimento. With a twist of the uncle Floyd show. Remember Floyd lavinnieo?
My curiosity has been quenched.
I'm sure someone will eventually post some specifics on this
"Dave Made" transmitter. And 148 did tell me he was using a reciver but was all mysteriosso. I knew he wasn't willing to give details so after the second question, I stopped asking.
I swear to you that was my first thought.
This guy's running a yaesu with a $500 Mic and an eq, but after my initial search did find some snippets of information on a dave made transmitter.
It also doesn't sound like an hf with a high end mic and an eq.
It sounds very different. It's...
I don't know if the one drainbamage shared has ssb, but the one I've been hearing absolutely does. I actually heard it there first.
Then three days later heard the guy on AM.
The guys in Brown's Mill's N.J. (or there abouts). He goes by 148. When 38 lsb is open give a 2014826b in NJ a listen...
Drainbamage thanks. Big time!
I don't want you to think I'm lazy.
I did search the web/yotube and i couldn't turn up anthing but some references and little more about them.
I knew one of you guy's would either know or have/find a picture but the video's more then I exspected, considering I...
