Well, when electronics are cleaned they are often cleaned ultrasonically. They are immersed in a distilled water + detergent solution to break up flux residue and other contaminants. Shooting plain city or well water that likely has dissolved metals plus Windex is bad. It will develop problems...

Anything between... like they state... Switches, coax, etc. All of these items have insertion losses. Some more than others. The meter itself does as well.

And how are you going to quantify a reading on a needle.. unless it's digital? The linked article is also pretty old by today's standards. As such is requires the usual grain of salt. things have changed since 2011 and before.. like some of his references to observations made in 1990 - 25+...

A cursory search reveals it to be a copy. Personally I would go to the original creator and support him. Is the original motor mouth device available for less? This isn't my thing anyway. I don't like loud people on the air :)
