Two things come to mind here, it appears that the circuit is injecting the 12V bias through the keying relay. In order for this to function properly there must be a DC blocking cap inline to keep the DC from directly shorting. I can't really tell if there's one from the picture. I usually use...
Yea, I was just hoping he may browse by again someday and see my comment. I would love to know the full story, and why I was building them at that time. I had suspected there was a falling out of some kind, but the man I was working for never said a word. I wish I could remember his name, but...
Hey Steve, nice to meet you. I knew of you but never met you that I know of. Lee (Doc Audio) introduced me to a man in Anaheim who I ended up working for building these amps until he sold it off to a guy in Louisiana.
That was a long time ago, lol. I too live in Idaho, North Idaho to be a bit...
Not sure about a TX-600, but I used to build the TX-300 & TX-800's in SoCal back in the late 80's. The guy I worked for sold the company to a guy in Louisiana, and I went there to help train them up. I never found anyone to do the work and came back home. I don't think they were produced after...
I didn't know there was a pizza hut there either, but that's what I saw on google maps. lol
No, I grew up in Duarte for the most part. But I went to Covina High, graduated in '87.

It was on 926 Las Tunas, I just looked it up. Looks like there's a pizza hut across from it now. The guy who owned it was named Joe Motzl. We built several 'brands' of amps back then... Marko, Power Pump, and Bear Cub come to mind. I learned a lot from Joe.
I know this is a very old thread, but seeing these made my day. I used to build these amps back when I was a kid and haven't seen one in years. The guy who made these used to own a shop in San Gabriel, CA. called J&S CB's and firearms. He passed away many years ago now. Looks like someone...
