If the radio was "Trash-able" and trashed, or put in the back room as a parts radio, it would depend on the fine print. Several shops in my area pointed out the line that said: Troubleshooting fee not refundable. Which I can understand if they spend a little time looking it over. Other shops...
Amazon's been pretty good at that too. When they say it's been delivered, and I look outside and all around the house, I keep the picture they took of the delivery on the screen of my phone and go on a treasure hunt up and down the street to try and match the doorway in the photo. If I can't...
FedEx sucks (at least where I live). In the Townhome we lived in, there was a 4 foot fence around the front, with an open gate in the middle. It was about 6 inches pushed inward to show delivery companies that all was good, and they could go through the gate and put the box(s) on the front door...
Unless he's striving for all original parts, this would be the perfect time to ditch the RS mic mount and connector and replace it with usual Cobra/Uniden 4-pin mic setup. My 02. cents.
Definitely it (FB) had more 'downs' than 'ups', but I've picked up some info about a radio I own that I didn't know, information about a new radio, announced on the manufacturers FB page, and I've become more of the 'reading the mail' kinda guy these days. Otherwise, it's great on finding out...
Ironic. Back in the day you paid $5 for a CB license (go farther back and they were $20), and now, a ham license will cost you $35. What did Congress have in mind when they started charging $$$ for a ham license? was it to try to discourage new additions to the existing ranks of ham radio...
Those senior moments get a bit tiring after awhile, although I do get some extra exercise from some: I'm in the radio/computer room and have something important to tell my wife, so I walk all the way to the end of the house, she looks up at me, and all I can say is "I've got nothing", turn...
Regency had a couple as well, the Imperial and Imperial II. I remember the 1st time I got a DSB radio I thought I got ripped off due to the reduced carrier. That what I got at the time for being a stupid teenager.
I liked the simplicity of the Clarifier on the Ranger/RCI 29 base, as-is, it's rx only. Push Clarifier knob in and then it's a TX/RX clarifier. A lot easier than having to go into some hellish menu system, should you want to change it often.
It still sounds like a funky pwr cord to the meter. What's it connected to (power source)? I use a power pole strip, so every connection is separate, and it's made life much easier when troubleshooting.
I found that out a few years ago myself. I found B&W to be useless as well, so everything gets scanned in color, then perhaps some post-scan cleanup. If you have one of all-in-one printers (inkjet or laser) you can use that scanner. It'll send it directly to your documents folder, creating a...
Yes, superficially at first glance it resembles the 980. The comparison you made between radio types (FCC/non-FCC) is really like comparing apples to oranges. I try to keep reviews balanced because some folks still eat apples. Nonetheless I respect your opinion.
Next in the review queue is...
I have a rig on 16 24/7. If I'm in the room and hear anyone I reply, and occasionally throw out some CQ's, but If you do look for a station, don't jump back to 37/38 too fast, because I have to tune my mag loop for 16. Tnx
I love those 757's! Anyone in town that used one on 11m was the big dog of the block. I have a GX monitoring 16 now with a cheap MLA-30 loop antenna on the wall. I just have to leave it "ON" 24/7 due to the internal battery gone dead (if I want to keep my band A and B frequencies alive. It'll...
