Anyone know where I can get a chasis wiring diagram for a Cobra 29 LTD ST. Specifically I need the wiring for the Delta tune variable control. Someone replaced it but never wired it. Just need to know which wire ,orange, blue , brown go to which pins. Thanks for any help.
The mic gain pot was bad and I had another one off of a cobra 25 and put it in and presto everything was good. dk = 5w and pep of 21-22w. It has a swing from set pt on my dosy from 40%- to 100% and a good clean and clear signal. I learned several things while messing with this soundcapper and...
The big question is whether the radio was set up to drive an amplifier. The radio has a single final only and driver. If the old version it is a 1969 final, a 2166 driver, the new version has mosfets in it irf 520 and its driver. The problem is that most people think with that variable power...
Linearone, I have installed most of the boards out there and the astatic sound especially good in the Uniden radios. The RF-limited turbo has the pre-amp and requires a few more wire hook-ups and to set the pre-amp you have to short out with a jumper wire and have either a set of headphones or...
Tony, did you get the numbers they were talking about after you did the supertune. What was your dk and pep after the super tune and how does the radio actually sound on air or on headphones.
I found the problem and next time I will no better; and I should have this time. It was the dynamike control pot. All that work and finally it was something so simple that I should have looked at right after the mic plug connection; but I didn't and now I have learned something invaluable. Check...
BC I replaced C42 and C45(just in case) and didn't help with modulation. Can I test the capacitors while they are in the circuit with my analog multimeter on the high resistance setting and what it fall back to infinity, or does each one have to be pulled in the circuit to analyze and see if it...
C2 thanks I know how to get the 16.67 value out of parallel or series resitors; but do they need to be a 1w or 1/2 work. Also how do the loop; I have not built my own homebrew dummy load before(I need a few directions). Can I use a coax that has a p;259 and somehow attach the resistors to it...
I was talking with Al from Sparky's and he said that the Uniden 76-78 are unable to produce the same numbers as the cobra 29's. They are also doing something more than the instructions listed in the cbtricks.com because they are seeing unreal numbers of 120w or so from the RFX and I did the RFX...
Mackmobile I used a 50 ohm dummy load to test the radio and no warning lights came on; and the other problem is on the Galaxy 959 is an automatic swr system with no calibration system which means there is no trimmer pot to adjust to get the light to go out. That works great on the cobras and...
I have a dummy load of 50 ohms; so what is the easiest way to build a 16-17 ohm or 150 ohm dummy load. I have never built one of my own. Could I take a piece of coax and attach a 1w or larger resistor of the proper value and do it this way. Point me in the right direction for a diy on this dummy...
I just looked back at this thread and that sounds like something I will try asap and I will let you know what I find. The wet finger trick I have not heard of; do you use it to trouble shoot other things? I really appreciate it, I would like to get this piece a junk working. Not because it is...
I put the cobra with the RFX-75 back in the tractor last night with a good piece of coax and that solved my problem of the garble to the cheap coax floating around during transmission. I also think the skythumper with its high impedence was causing most of the back ground noise in the cobra RFX...
After peaking and tuning this radio the owner said he had a swr warning light problem with the radio. It's dk = 10w ( a little high but not for the 1969 final to handle) and swings to 22-23w. It shows the light even with just keying up with the carrier. I have seen the galaxy tech support memo...
Well part of the problem has been solved; the tractor when sitting still has about 11.8-12.4v available and when the tractor is started it jumps to around 13.1-13.6 and that was plenty to drive the radio. I would need to run direct to the battery if I wanted to run while sitting still, but our...
Thanks theshortcircuit and johnescashflo for the info; but we can not go direct to the battery. I have had my cobra 200 in the same tractor with no problems and it show 125-140w on my dosy and pulls quite a few amps. The general lee pulls about 4 amps maybe 5 max on hard testing and the RFX-75...
I ran my RFX-75 last night in my truck and ran across a problem that I didn't think would happen. At home on my astron vs-35 I had no problems of producing 13-15w dk and peak of 72-80w pep. But when I got to work it was not even coming close. It acted like it was starved for amps; but I run my...
Thats exactly right, they cut the diode for the AMC and take the tuning slug out and call it a peak and tune. They should call it a snip and clip job. $100 is a fair price including thE RFX-75. That is what I would charge.
