Robb, I agree with all the transistors and diodes being suspect. While waiting for parts to come, namely those diodes listed, I will be checking the other diodes and transistors as I can. I think I will be chasing a SSB issues after the power situation is sorted out.

Well, after fixing the mode switch wires, I changed d72, A MA27W-A diode. I used 2 1n4148's in series just to try. I also changed Q35, a 2sc945 just because. Plugged it in and voila, powered up. After a minute I saw some smoke. Quick shut her down. R213 is all black now. A 47 ohm resistor...

Ok. Came home, turned it on still nothing. I do the wet finder test again, and while the radio is in PA mode, I run my wet finger right by the regulator Q37, where d71 or d72 is, towards the back, the rx/tx LED comes to life, and I can switch the modes. So I am back to where I was a few posts...

Yeah man, I usually do stuf like that. cycle all the switches, clean and lube them. Check everything and anything plugged in. What we in the Air Force call a wiggle check of all the wires and connections, etc. Nothing, lol.

Well, the radio is aligned, and talks fine. But the radio all tuned up gets me 1-4watts AM, and 8-9 watts SSB. Nothing more. It works great, just the power is lower than I am used to seeing on the chassis'. I wonder what the deal is? There are no swing mods or nothing either on it.

My subscribed thread aren't getting emailed to me, ughh. Never finished looking into this radio. I'll be be pretty some though, or, sell it as a parts radio.:crying:

I have been getting some good DX here in PA. Australia, normal england contacts, texes and such. The conditions are good, but the time of day to make the contacts changes obviously. 231 PA

Haven't really made any progress on this radio. May get on it again soon. Still looking for suggestions. I have a few items I'll be selling here soon to help fund other things, I may sell this as is also. anyone have any ideas?
