That round donut looking thing your pointing at in pic one is not there to secure the cable. It's a magnetic ferrite choke. I think X-Force amplifiers used to come that way.

If it is a mag mount antenna there is no need to add a ground to the antenna. A mag-mount antenna is grounded through capacitive coupling between that magnet and the metal it's stuck to.

I think you mean modes of talking like AM, FM, and SSB. Bands are what channels or frequency’s are grouped into.
