got a 2950 and a 2970 n2 .. love em both and I am going for a 2970 n4 ... gotta get a bigger power supply ... the 2970 n2 makes my 50 amp astron grunt I think a n4 will turn it inside out .. the trick to longevity with any of the 29xx boxes is don't run them wide open and they will last a lot...

xxx again ... uniden pc122 radios are very cheap used and they have a reputation for being rock solid ssb boxes ... I guess techs don't mind working on them either.. just saying ....

xxx again .. I forgot to mention that a tripod that is intended for rv dish applications makes a dandy platform to support the a99 and they can be found for little or nothing .. add weight to the lower areas of the tripod for stability.. also sideband is a lot of bang for the buck ..I am not...
