i used a 102" whip and 3 8' ground radials I rigged up at 30' to the base. worked very well and I had no problems hitting folks 30-50 miles away on ssb. swr was low as well (1.3-1.5).
for any of ya'll that used the 444, i understand its only 3wires in the cord, black (hot), white (ext. relay), and a shield (according to shure tech support). how would I go about wiring this up to my washington (5 pin cobra)???
snagged one off ebay after reading all the great reviews on eham.net. Anyone used one? how well with this match up on a uniden washington or president lincoln?

i dont plan on channeling the 144. so far I have had great reports with it. I am loving the nb/anl on it and the rx is great, not overly sensitive like a lot of new exports, but seems like it picks up more of the guy on the other end than all the hash and trash.
picked one up used on ebay for 31 bucks. same board as the uniden pc122, president ar144, and cobra 146. Radio needed cleaning but found to be in great shape, she was a virgin as well. was found to be dead on freq on ssb and am was fine. the nb/anl is great and the rx is very good on these...
