Rob, what i did was take a 2 npn transistor improved power Mic circuit and put it inside the radio after the Mic plug on the audio wire. I wanted to add an attenuation to the end and put it where the delta tune knob is.
What i ended up doing is, i left the delta tune pot in tact and left it...
While working on my same cobra rfx75 radio i had an idea that works pretty well. I designed a small power Mic circuit on a piece of Vero board to inject in the Mic audio wire inside theradio. It gets freakin loud! If i wanted to place the volume knob in place of the delta tune pot what should i...
I use actually have done several of them. I removed 1 complete turn off the output slug, i changed the 3300uf cap, i have not changed the modulation pot to the 1k resistor, should i do this? I will also switch the resistor s. which out put cap should i replace ? And with what value, which audio...
A while back i began my quest in modifying a radio for home use as an on going project. It's a cobra 29lx with rfx75 i installed. I've also done every mod i could find. I'm sure any one reading this has seen my post before about this radio. I consider it pretty good with. It's doing 20/ 80 give...
This amp doesn't have a ssb option that i know of. Unless it's a switch inside. I hooked it up and never looked inside bc i knew it wasn't any thing special. At, the time i didn't know Jack about radios, just wanted to be heard at the port. I have it with a chrome cobra that I've literally done...
This preamp is built in to the amp. 2 x 2n3904 boosting receive. It works with the tx relay. It's it ok to keep this preamp on at all times since the relay cuts it off when key up? I have my amp hidden in upper panel in my truck and i can't get to it.the
If you can solder and de solder it's not hard. You also have to mount the transistor, which you can find on at radio shack. Pretty simple. I'm still debating if ilike out or not With the ekl
Good morning everyone. I finally got all the mods on my radio straighten out. I've done every thing i could find down to the ekl final and trim pot volting the gate. I have it set up for 3.5 v on tx and its swinging pretty good. The variable power brings the dead key from 0 to almost 10 watts...
Hello everyone. I just did this mod on my older radio. The mod with the tip 120 transistor hooked to the rf gain pot. I know i did the mod correctly. But it's not working.. (so maybe i didn't look) it almost seems like it's not modulating. It's it possible the transformer is melted? Or is there...
That's what I'm saying. I can't seem to get the swr down on any channel.. i haven't been able to fully modulate freely yet for fear of blowing out up. Already changed the final in the rfx75 once lol. I seem to have trouble ground antennas anyway. Any one got any good tips for ngp antenna on...
I have noticed the deal with the swr as well. I tIsought it was my setup. Because everything isn't well setup. By my other 29 has similar swr issues with just the Mosfet. Can some one Explain the trim pot used for antenna warning? is it sensitivity? I'm not giving up here bc the whole point of...
Which instructions are you referring to? The one on cb tricks says to remove j36 and replace with 1000uf cap with small resistor (33r) on the bottom... this IS the swing mod am i correct? This radio was brand new when i installed so all mods were from the instructions.
Please understand I'm...
Ya, i just laid the wire down and soldered it to the lead of the other component. Nothing was near it so i let it all hang. This is where the signal comes back on board. Would somthing like this get through the solder mask?
You know... I'm not even sure i got a great output reading because i was trying to setup swr at the same time. I'm pretty sure i had as poor grounding and near my house... my antenna is 52" stinger and i couldn't get it right. But before i saw smoke come out the back i was getting 10 watt dk and...
Naw, not the whack pack. This is a heat sink+ dual mosfet final replacement. It's nothing incredible i just wanted to try it myself. For future driving of larger amps. I basically want to mod the hell out of the radio. I'm just hoping that this is ALL due to blowing the final
r55 is charred with white film over it and black mark on the top of the radio.. i know i will need to repair that. But could that happen as the result in a blown final?
Sorry for all the post. I'm just trying t to give you all the info i can. I checked all the joints. In the pics a couple look sketchy like the power wire. And a couple other but i promise all of that is ok.
