I run a 102" ss whip ($20 from radio shack) on a 6" spring for a total of 108"...solid mount directlly behind the cab of my truck on the box rail ( one of the worst places, so im told) and my swr is 1.2:1 across all 40 and well above and below....as soon as i installed it i noticed a HUGE...

allright so I did some more testing....The out put on the gtl is only 5w AM and ssb swings to 10w....i tried turning them both down and it made no difference....I did take a couple pics though...then i proceeded to unhook the super star and chuck it against the wall of my garage....just...

I will deffinatlly try turning dwn the radio to half ( correct me if im wrong please...vr10 am = clock wise lower, vr11 ssb= counterclock wise lower), not sure what the transistor is...I do have the amp and radio hard wired to the Battery with 10ga wire...ill try to snap some picks after work...

Looks good but also looks like alot of wind resistance, probably will put alot of stress on the mount and truck body. I played around with copper and short whip combo's myself but finally broke down and spent $20 at radio shack for a 102" ss whip and a 6" spring, mounted it next to the third...
