I can't comment on his situation now. But at one time is was one of the good guys in the business. His store front has been closed for some time now and as far as I know he hired some gal to sell off everything, this was a couple of years ago. His inventory used to be top shelf. The internet...
DTB Post what you think of the 490hp. I would kinda of like to know before I order one.
You will and do aline TX and RX?
Looking for that 90 to 100% modulation, would like to know where the carrier is set.
Thanks
Remember that the radio won't be going back to the manufacture.
But to a CB warranty shop. I've been around long enough to know the difference, and have seen work done by warranty techs.
Some good and some bad.
This is why I am hesitant, especially with what Justin did with the Mosfet...
Yes you can adjust needle for sensitivity. Should use a tone generator though.
In the past I have compared a radio to another and adjusted accordingly. Not perfect but closer than it was. Got constant signal from another station and compared. Gotta trust that the good radio is adjusted...
Thats what I am thinking. Nobody seems to know the effect though. I just might have to send it off to Stryker. I wonder and have asked before, if Stryker repair shop can undo the Mosfet mod. Was trying to fix without being without radio. And one never knows how it will come back. The audio...
Lords your post has me puzzled. Maybe I didn't explain my problem correctly or I don't understand your post.
I was receiving noise with an incoming audio signal, especially one weaker than say 5 S units ( as read on my Stryker meter). With stronger signals audio was clear with no competing...
Well after running this radio with the aforementioned receiver mods
I have come to the conclusion that I the radio receiver range has been shortened. The radio is easier to use now but the range has been attenuated. Maybe by 3 S units. Kinda like just tuning the RF gain down.
So the...
Fine....DTB, thanks.
By the way DTB, let me know when you have the Stryker 490 in stock.
I can use it in the big truck and I'll put the 440 in the 4 runner with the 4 pill.
I'll sell the 45mp with Justins high performance mods and the 2 pill converted again by Justin from a 1x2 C to...
Yes...I am very pleased with these two mods. Seems as if ( butt tested no real comparison test done ) the rec. range is still there and all the noise coming in with the audio is gone under low signal strength. This was my dislike of the radio.
Audio is loud and clear and now I have a very...
One of my friends did both mods and it helped. I just did the cap & resister part, I had done R35 already. I will no more tomorrow.
Thanks for the help....Shawn and DTB
Well, after driving around all day seems as if not much really changed.
Seems to have helped a bit in that the RF gain need not be turned up as high yet there still is noise coming in with the audio under weaker signal strength.
It didn't make it like the old 148GTL receiver.
The 440hp seems to hear fine, just has alot of noise coming in with the receiver audio. This is what most complain about.
I did the R35 resistor change. I used a 5.8k ohm R.
Just real quick check to see if the radio still work, found that a weak signal came in noise free. I haven't...
Karo. I feel your pain.
The whole idea of the Stryker was to get a radio that didn't need any after factory mods to make it better.
It is very difficult nowadays to find competent experienced repair work performed in almost any arena of endeavor.
CB radio might just be the worst, but...
