I have done the test with the 10k vs. Wilson 2000 trucker. It's been awhile and I really can't remember the numbers. They both tuned pretty close as far as bandwidth with flat reading. I think the 10k was maybe just a few channels wider. The 10K does do much better in the reflect...
Welcome to the 10K club Kingmudduck
Yes they do work very well. Beautifully constructed and light for a open coil. Beats anything else I've tried. And the best part is that the builder Kale is a class act.
Welcome to the 10K world.
PS Better late to the party than never attending

Sorry I lost track of the thread for awhile. By keeping the grounding as short as possible I was referring to the ground braid in the coax. Ground it to the mount in the shortest length possible. I drilled a hole and attached the braid with eyelet and small bolt and nut.

Thanks Justin for letting me know. I know you aren't there as much and didn't request you. How do like my work? Don't answer that...please! I am again happy that you did the work. Gotta to tell ya that trying to unsolder that coil was difficult for me as you could see. Must of...
Don
Ya this is what I did the first time. It seemed to work well. Then I saw the mod that Northstar listed and tried it. Thats when I ran into trouble. It'll get alinged correctly at FG and then if it was like it was at first I will adjust L8 coil back down again and this time just be...
Hate to admit
But I have a heavy hand with a solder gun. Radio will be shipped to FG Monday. Got the coil out but didn't find another slot and the bottom, yes I took the bottom out too. Wasn't real easy determining which pins to unsolder either. Oh well this is what happens when I get bored...
Grts mod
This really limits the recieve. I lost 6 S units by trying this. And really didn't cut much noise level out either. Now I got to replace the L7 coil.
Done that already, by Justin
But this radio still exhibts the syptoms listed above. Buy turning the one pot down I lowered the noise level and still kept great recieve. With the amount of noise level I would give up some recieve cause you can't hear the faint signal anway thriugh the noise...

Northstar, this is the thread that had me trying to remember what I had done previously. In the previous mod I just backed off 1/2 turn just 1 pot. It reduced the noise by half or 6lbs. I didn't touch the other pots. I wanted to put the one pot back to where I found it and try...
I read awhile back a mod to help lower the noise level. Had to do with unhooking the antenna and backing down a reciever alinement pot ( ? ) .I did the mode and it helped. I lost my notes and can't remember the pot number. I think it was DTB that wrote the thread, but can't be sure. Any help...
Ring terminal
If by the other one you mean ring terminal I prefer it. Better ground and you can tighten the antenna to the plug without possibilty of shorting out. Get the 10K mount too, ring terminal type.
Tuning dual antennas
I haven't ran dual antennas for maybe 15 years. But as I remember I would tune both antennas at the same time with the 75 Ohmn coax installed. You have to move both stingers the same distance either direction whichever is called for. Really a pain running back and forth...
Truck stop coax
Sorry but I have had nothing but bad experiences from using truck stop pre packaged coax. I buy only made to order now. Oh ya it will work. Sometime compare some good coax with the truck stop junk in regards to RX and TX numbers and your see what I am talking about. The...
