If you REALLY want a top grade (non-entry, limited feature) radio that compares $-wise reasonably with the 7300, go for the Yaesu FTdx10. It is worth every dollar, as long as the 991A's digital modulation (C4FM) and V/UHF is not important to you.

Agree Riverman. The Icom & Yaesu models were designed and engineered for very different operator requirements. BUT Bucki, you can not "fix" blocking with a tuner or resonant antenna, no, no, no. It is clearly explained by Bob here: Terms Explained for the Sherwood Table of Receiver Performance...

My channel occasionally shifts up one channel with a PTT. Only one and once. Very rare. How about listing our serial numbers. Maybe there is a pattern or bad lot. Mine:

Check the YouTube video from Mike's Radio in PA. He explains the audio mod. He did it on mine and it is quite noticable.

I have been using the Astatic D104 (crystal element). Sounds great. Don't use it mobile.

I can echo Matt at Radio Garage. He restored (caps, align, etc) a Cobra 138XLR a couple months ago. Turned out superb, certainly new or better. That is my only experience. Shipping from VA to PA was reasonable. Good turn around time.

Good luck. Many 'techs' out there but a properly trained and fully equipped tech working on CB stuff is a rare find. Keep us posted.

Be aware that some of the Lincoln II+ units had the clarifier fixed for RX (RIT) only. Latest units added RX+TX with a new menu option. There is no mod for older versions. I agree with the VFO operation, clarifier used only for RX.
