I'm sorry let me restate my post #12
Could someone show me where and how to cut the trace????????????
I don't see where ferrite beads will help me in cutting the trace.
Could someone show me where to cut the trace for the pa jack? Just using it for playback and would like to use the pa jack to plug the player into.
I tried the mod as 543 mentioned and had feedback issues in the cab with feedback, etc.
Disconnected the resistor across the jacks for talkback and...
I couldn't find that board, but here's the article, Beware I have not proofed or tried any off these, Hope it helps.
Here is the Diode Swing Mod For Most Radios.
This trick will apply to most SSB and Export type radios only including the 148 GTL, 2000 GTL, Grant XL & LT, Galaxy, Connex...
I have a lot of stuff on file, I'm not familiar with the radio, but do you have the board number It should start with EPT. If you post the number I'll post what I have.

I ran across this article By George Collins KC1V (there are 3 parts), and it helps shed some light on the subject.
My questions are that everyone suggest using a signal tracer over cost of using a scope.
I have a scope and a RF...

Here's a link to a post that I asked the same question.
Half way down you'll find 357's post.
If you not mobile I have seen a lot of guys do it with a laptop.
Your welcome, best way is to check the wiring diagrams, then with a test light.
Instead of soldering a resistor across the pa/external jack pins you are running a wire p to a switch and back, the switch is on/off and the resistor can go anywhere in the circuit.
The nice thing about this radio is that there are a lot of options to use switches that aren’t ever used. Who uses the 9 to 19 switch? You can use them for talkback, toys, mods.
Most of the two position switches have six pins. When the switch is in the up position there is continuity between the...
Here is where my confusion starts.
Here is the probe: http://n5ese.com/rfprobe1.htm
Half way thru the article it states:
"The first thing you'll always do in using the RF Probe is to connect the banana-plug end to the +/- jacks of your DC Voltmeter; set the Voltmeter to DC-Volts (not AC)."
In...
I didn't have much luck with the probe. I hooked up a good working 25 side by side with the repair radio to do my test. As soon as I touched the rf probe to the good radios collector it popped the inline fuse on the power cord, so I dropped that idea, must be something in the probe.
So I...
The radio looks like new, nothing burnt everything intact. Back to the probe, When I get the probe near say a final or transistor what am I looking for?
Can I use the scope in place of a RF probe, if so how?
I think I made one a few years back, if I use the probe do I set the DVM to ac and what am I looking for?
Thanks Robb, I got all the tools I need to make the tests including a transistor tester. Should I just use my DVM and the voltage charts and test for voltage to the final and then the driver and work my back or should I use the scope before I pull each out. Forgive my newness but I need a step...
Many thanks to Radio Tech and others with their help. I'm looking to learn more on the subject of troubleshooting the audio chain. Their post have help me bring a couple of cobras back to life that had no receive.
Now I'm stuck on a couple (cobra 25's) with no carrier no modulation. The radio...
