Update Well I replaced the 1n4001 diode and it worked, and was working for a while. now it stopped again.. not the diode again, I think I cooked it? I was putting a receive kit in my general grant, and had it hooked throught the amp. amp wa turned off and in standby, didn't think it would hurt...

I see this is a old thread. But I got a kl 500 and just removed the sd1446. tested all bad. But I see in this pic above all the pills has those 2 added tabs to 2 screws, Mine only has it on the 3rd one from left to right, are they needed or can It run without them?

still no go I got 4 new 6lx6 tubes in it. just put in a new 2n2905 keying transistor, and still nothing, no rec and no transmit, now the rec relay when moved with a pencil dose make the rec work.. but when moving the transmit relay it don't key up?

YUP thats it.. except mine don't have the little legs and original fan, and has the 6lx6 tubes. I wonder what the differance in tubes are? I would love to have it fixed , but there is no one in Central NY that will touch it.

well it was all working, then it started to stop keying, I would just turn the rec on and off and it would work again for a little while... then after doing that for a few weeks , the rec and the tx don't work any more. the tubes all still light up they are 6lx6.. but I broke one the other day...

I was told this was the skipper 300, but it is not! the skipper has 3 relays and this one has 2. and this one has the 6LX6 tubes in it. It says SCP and I cant find any info .. it has stopped keying up and I feel it is to do with the 2 relays on that small board. here are what pics I have

HAD TO MAKE IT FIT One thing I learned, it would not fit the trash bags whole, so cutting it up made it fit, everyone I talked to and chatted with on line said A -99's were junk, just wish I knew it before I got it.

HA I just did that today, but I took a saw zaw to it, and trashed it and put the maco up. Much quieter now. cant figure out why tho that a 99 I had was new. good thing there cheap .

A 99 Thanks for your imput, but I went over my friends house who said to ground it, that it stated to hook ground wire on the U clamp to ground to eliminate white noise, I couldn't believe that would do anything, But he prouved it to me. he has the same radio I have a DX 959. with that recieve...

MY SCP old tube amp Gee I would love to find any info on this amp? it works great, but the pre amp makes the recieve have a hum? makes people sound electronic, but it works As you can see it is well protected :thumbup:

well if you can't figure it out, I have a sbe console II that 90-1 will go right into, Been looking for a Vfo for it, I had one in the mid 70's But can't remember what brand it was?

OK, I saw the info on cbtricks but what is in my amp now is Q2 is 2n4403 and Q1 is 2n4125, wich the info on cb tricks is the 2n2907 for both??? Q1 and Q2? what would the differance be there?

Hi, I hate to bring up a old subject, But I just got one of these and the pre amp don't work, and mine has the 3 butons, and the one your saying hi lo am says SSB on mine?? Anyone know why the pre amp don't work? could it be Q1 or Q2? Thanks
